Dodgin’ Dadbods: Fortitude Training

Area man found crushed beneath 300 pounds of wood, concrete and cheap metal, details at the top of the hour.

(Kidding, I admire your creativity)

Yeah, it’s tough to beat $1/lb for weights. And with two bars you’ll be able to do supersets I’m the future.

Cheap bar for bench and OHP, nice bar for dead’s and squats

So, I take it the wife is not that happy? How many nights are you gonna sleep on the couch? lol

I think she’ll be okay if a few hundred bucks worth of weights keeps him sane over the coming months.

Haha she’s fine, and yeah. About to do my lifting day then go to a playground that has a pull-up bar.

Since this log seems to be where all the strong mofos are congregating…

You can still get large* kettlebells (with floor friendly vinyl coating) on Walmart’s site for < $1/lb. Most (all) of the lighter ones (that are “cheap”) have been bought up.

Thank you!

BalanceFrom is the brand name to look for.

Just to add: check handle width. My 50# Walmart one is like an axle, made the 10K challenge miserable.

I hope so! I bought a 70 & an 80, for farmer’s walks and deadlifting. The wide grip and the asymmetrical weighting factor would make it extra hard and super functional (don’t hate me…) as well is what I’m thinking.

Not for me, no way!

I love it for single arm work, but the handle being so thick meant I can’t fit all fingers on the handle when using both hands, and I think it contributed to the strained ring finger tendon I got. Also one arm deadlifts with the kettlebell on your side are great as part of a circuit - your whole body works to stabilize the weight.

Late morning was another 8 eggs, just scrambled with tomatoes and a small patty, around a quarter pound.

Workout:
Squat
145, 170, 185x5, 125x20

OHP called for 50% 10x5 but my TM really is a bit low so I did the 70% which is still only 95, for 5x10

100 shrugs with 135

Then went to the school playground with the kids

100 pull-ups, 100 pushups, 100 sit-ups - not quite the assistance to the T but was what I had to work with at the time, and I did extra instead of less, which is my rule if I have to sub anything - at least make it harder, not less hard.

Tonight was yummy but filling, lol - 6 small burgers (a bit over a pound) with pepper jack and a fried egg on top of each one, with sliced orange peppers on the side

Ina Garten needs to follow this (food) log.

Maybe guest post by Nigella with photos?

shout out to raw bell pepper strips. unless they’re green

Yes bro. Orange red yellow raw pepper strips are the bomb. Green must be cooked and in meat sauce or home fries. Even then, they’re meh.

I love raw green peppers.

But I also enjoy pushing the prowler.

Week 3 coming up. Will re-evaluate my TM’s, as per the program (says to do it in the article). The press has been so laughably light I don’t sweat, so my TM will likely go from 135-155. Bench will only go up 5, squat and deadlift will go up 10. Could move up Bench more I know, squat and dead’s I could too - but I’m only in the “too light” category for them, not in the “weightless” category like the press.

Sorry to hear that man. This pandemic seems to be bringing out the best and the worst in people.

@flappinit, been absent for a few days, but beyond impressed at the dedication and integrity on display here man. It’s a fantastic lesson in “This is how you achieve stuff”.
