Dodgin’ Dadbods: Fortitude Training

Haha, yes dude. They’re no white bricks, but they’ll do.

Seriously tho, yolks are so good for you!

Here we go again lol…I eat 5-6 yolks a day. I love them. 10 whites and a couple yolks at 4 am for first meal (w oats). and then the same meal at 7 when dun training. 20+ yolks a day would probably be too much.

Shit bro, we definitely have had this conversation before, haha. My bad, that’s plenty of the good stuff, and you’re right.

Canned tuna or tuna steaks? Canned tuna I only make tuna salad (tuna onions chopped veggies and mayo) and that’s rare. Tuna STEAKS though, coat them lightly in sesame oil, coat them all over with black and white sesame seeds, and sear them on medium-high heat for 2.5 minutes a side to leave the center just slightly rare and the outside crisp and crunchy. Dip in a wasabi-mayo combo, or mayo-sriracha works too, serve with rice (wild rice is best) and maybe some asparagus.

Yeah dude, when I started this log I was really intent on making that a staple and I’d like to get back to that - one of my first posts was about a thai chicken noodle soup that is just amazing and I want to make again now.

That tuna steak recipe sounds AMAZING.

It’s bomb as fuck dude, if you’re not squeamish about it and you have a good quality tuna steak, you can sear it for a bit less time, 1.5-2 minutes a side, and eat them pretty rare in the middle. Just do not overcook that shit, because then you get what’s in canned tuna, except worse because it’ll be dry and flaky.

Agree that sounds dam good!!
I do albacore tuna in 16 oz to-go cups. Usually put cottage cheese or potato salad on top of tuna and make up 4 or so at a time— east to pack with ya

The bar I used to work at had a tuna steak burger that was basically everything you described, but on a burger. I always ordered it rare. Best way to eat a good tuna steak.

Cottage cheese. Now there is a bomb fucking snack.

I can’t believe I didn’t put it in the egg thread, since i thought of it as an egg-only kind of thing, but in the mornings, a few scrambled eggs with cottage cheese, spinach leaves, avocado, and sriracha/hot sauce is an AMAZING bowl.

Noice, a tuna steak burger sounds good. Salmon burgers are good too - chop the salmon and mix it with some mayo and dijon, pat into a burger, season, sear, serve on a bun with arugula.

I WANT ALL THE FOOD NOW.

Meant to reply earlier but thanks a lot for this! I’ll give them a shot. Curious how those egg yolks will turn out - never done anything like that before.

The yolks will be creamy but just firm. In other words, incredible.

Bit late to the reply with this one but I’ve done a weeks worth before and just froze the stuff that was planned for more than 2/3 days ahead, get it out the night before and depending on constitution of the dish either leave it on the side or in the fridge.

Need to get back to it, works a treat and like you say 3 hours of chaos in the kitchen and you’re loving it the rest of the week.

I eat so much cottage cheese. Not with eggs though. I make it with a peanut butter chocolate oat mix and berries. So good and loads of protein

Is

all combined? Like a certain product? Or do you mean that you mix all of those things together?

Oats, a banana, sugar free chocolate chips, pB2 powdered peanut butter, stevia, almond milk, vanilla. Mix together and refrigerate. So good

I agree with these, big time. I made cookies a few months ago and my wife comes in and asks how I managed to make cookies with such few dirty dishes. I told her because I only used the 1cup measuring cup and a spoon for measuring ingredients and only used one mixing bowl. I could estimate the 1/4 cup, 1/2cup, tbsp or tsp from these. Needless to say, my cookies resulted in one giant cookie. It still tasted fine, but precision matters when baking, whereas cooking is a fun experiment.

Thanks for sharing the recipes. It has been awhile since I’ve made a chilli, it may be time.

And it lasts in your gut longer as it digests slower…a great snack/meal right before bed when you’ll be fasting for 6+ hrs
