Do You Believe In A God? Why or Why Not?

Sorry about that man

Your parents are “Christian” in name only. A tough pill to swallow for sure.

I’m christian and black. Glad you’re not racist like your parents.

Good for you, buddy. Why Christian, though?

I suppose he hasn’t trotted out the lefts usual method of “hey you superstitious idiots, want to vote for us?”.

Credit to Colin Quinn for that joke.

Overwhelming evangelical support even in the primaries though and tons of Christian leaders who fawn over him. Zero chance Trump has read the Bible (2 Corinthians, can’t come close to naming a favorite verse).

I guess we can officially know they were all just pretending with the a candidates faith and behavior matters.

I don’t know if I would consider myself covenantist but it does seem that the promise to people changes at least once in the Bible. Mainly that the Old covenant was just for God’s chosen people of Israel, but when they rejected his Son, the new promise was opened to all.

One could argue that three covenants were in place throughout the Bible. One with Adam, one with the Jews pre Jesus, and the new covenant.

This theory does raise difficult questions. What about the gentiles before the new covenant? Are they just screwed to eternity in hell? It really doesn’t seem fair, not saying it has to be fair, but that is just outrageous.

Another question is will there be a new covenant? What if we missed the newest covenant because people ignored the prophet?

Muhammad?

Joseph Smith?

It is strange to me how those who are religious so easily dismiss other religion’s prophets, but not question their own prophets / religious claims with the same scrutiny.

I agree these are difficult questions and I don’t have a clue how to answer them. I think it was never intended to necessarily be fair. It does seem a bit crazy that for awhile anyone not of Israel was condemned until Jesus’ coming.

Just to point out, simply stating a name is neither a dismissal or recognition of anything…I think you’re reading into (at least) my post what you want it to mean … not what my intentions were

All roads lead to the same god. It’s about Christ consciousness - being enlightened.

You believe in God, without some sense of Divine Justice?

Things being ultimately fair is axiomatic for me. A belief in an afterlife allows for that without evidence or logical contradiction.

Do the roads interconnect? Can you turn? Can it get tangled?

Can you walk the right road the wrong direction?

Are there any shortcuts?

No disrespect intended

I don’t know exactly what you mean in this post so I won’t comment on it one way or another. What I will say is that, with regard to my post, I was simply pointing out that there have been other so called prophets and they have not been missed. Some, like Muhammad and to a lesser extent Smith, have had a significant impact on the world.

I do believe in Divine Justice. God ultimately decides who gets into heaven and writes the penultimate “laws”.

My post was in regards to the previous comment. It is interesting to think about that no one but God’a chosen people were allowed into heaven until The arrival of the Son.

Yeah I know

Is the below an interesting possibility or a foregone conclusion?

Does ‘seem a bit crazy’ imply ‘might not be true’?

I may have conflated fairness with justice, but in fairness it’s a common mistake

So… Do you not have a sense of Divine Fairness?

It might be possible to develop a vague sense of such a thing and then have less craziness to deal with

If my questions become burdensome, I encourage you to feel free to drop them.

Sorely missed, sorely missed

Yes.

Thanks for asking.

No disrespect taken. I have no ego.

This is what winds me up about it all.
