Disturbed - Indestructible

I like Disturbed, they get me pumped up to lift. That’s why I listen to them, Godsmack, Rammestein, and a few others. Compared to a lot of the other mainstream bands out there, Disturbed is a hell of a lot better. We could all go listen to songs about crying when we find out we’re emo, LOL.

Yeah, like they “sold out” by becoming famous.

“I used to listen to [so and so] before they got too big and sold out.”

I’m guilty of this to some extent, but it has more to do with their dipshit fans than anything. Case in point, I heard Maroon 5 years before they caught on. A friend of mine was a studio drummer in LA at the time and was friends with the band when they were still called Kara’s Flowers. I have some of their demos and what would later become their first album under the name Maroon 5 on a burned CD-R that came out of the studio. While I was listening to it with some friends I told everyone they would be huge some day and they all said that the tunes sucked(keep in mind I had more or less the finished album, with all the hits on it). Fast forward about 5 years and they get big and you can’t turn the radio on without hearing Harder to Breath or This Love. One of my friends that I played the album for back in high school, bought Songs About Jane, and now thinks they are the greatest thing ever. Maybe not so much the band’s fault I guess, but people sure are weird.

It most certainly is cool to hate, I’ve felt that same way about certain music to back in the day.

Down With The Sickness (LIVE) best song out of them for the gym, next to Dropping Plates, of course
When I first heard that song I liked it and bought the CD. Like others have said I found the rest of the CD and then other songs I heard by them to sound pretty much like the same thing. The guys voices doesn’t change at all. Some of that is to be expected, but I mean a little difference in tone pitch whatever.

I was the same way about them. I loved Maroon 5 when they were just starting out. After a few years of them being on the radio every 10 minutes, I can’t stand them now. I really didn’t like their new album either. It took them five years after Songs About Jane to come out with that?

“I got you a Marooon 5 CD.”

“Well, I remembered how you told me you love really terrible music.”

Yeah, I kind of liked them at first, they had some catchy, funky tunes, but after they hit I was kinda over their crap. I do still occasionally play along to some of their songs behind the drum kit. This Love, Sunday Morning, and Slow have a really groovy feel, and are fun to absolutely mutilate with all out drum solos.

As for them really sucking now, most of the songs off Songs About Jane were self-produced. Whatever came after that was corporate produced crap to make money.

It’s just mindless aggressive rock to me

I guess we can agree on that point.

I think many of these “critics” just like pretending that they’re soooo badass that nothing is worthy of their attention.

No, the critics are calling shit what it is- shit. I mean…I enjoy going out for a fancy meal at McDonalds…anyone who likes their food fresh, nutritious, and delicious…well…theyre just snobs. Are you guys seriously trying to justify listening to shitty music with “well, youre all just snobs”?
Honestly, if you don’t like the band, why post on this thread? People will always have differences in music and it doesn’t achieve much by going on about how some band sucks when the people on this thread like them. You are preaching to the wrong choir.
Music is one of the most individual things in the world.

About your thoughts on the band being posers, trying to fit in, etc… I never actually saw them this way. Infact, I never got any notions whatsoever about them. I myself don’t give a shit about their ‘image’. I just listen to them because they pump me up.

I also find it awkward that you even care about the fact that some people listen to this ‘shitty music’.

The new album is pretty damn good. I could give a damn about image, or what the critics say, or anything else. I know what I like to hear, and Disturbed is one of the best metal bands to come out in the last ten years.

Does some of their music sound alike? Sure. So what? What band doesn’t do that? It’s how you develop a fan base and then keep it. The fact of the matter is, their music is aggressive…makes me want to lift weights, break things, etc. That’s all I ask for in a band, and Disturbed consistently delivers.

Best songs on the new album, IMO…the title track and Inside the Fire. I liked Ten Thousand Fists a little better overall, but I’m very happy with this purchase.

If they got a new lead singer they might be a decent band. I can’t stand that guy’s vocals. I prefer my “metal” a lot more brutal than this.

I think i would rather listen to Dragonforce.

i dont even care if they tweaked their music to the market. Find me a successful band that doesnt. I might be a little biased, everything i buy goes into winamp, and i remove things from the list iam not that into, etc. So maybe i just get exposed to what i think is the best from disturbed.
