I’m in the market for a digital camera with video recording features.
I have no idea what mega pixels are and honestly don’t know where to start.
The main purpose of the camera will be to record training footage to critique form and technique.
I won’t be doing any outrageous photography or anything with it.
Did a search on the site to see if anything has been done about this already, but could not find anything.
One megapixel is 1000 pixels. A pixel is a dot of color, the higher Megapixels the more dots per square inch. Thus, the more megapixels the more detailed the image. I recommend higher than 7 MP. Most Digital cameras have video capabilities. Kodak are the cheapest, though they supposedly break the easiest. Just go to a bestbuy and check a few out. Make sure you incorporate a video storage card into your price. don’t buy a $250 camera and then not want to spend anything on a memory card. You have to makes sure the card you buy is the same brand or designed to fit the camera you buy. I recommend a 1gig or higher card. Sorry for the short choppy sentences, im tired and about to go to bed.
I just read an article (can’t recall where) that stated over 4-5 mega pixel the quality of the lens and higher OPTICAL zoom should be the deciding factors.
Once you get into digital zoom you are subject increased pixelation. This is when your picture turns into little colored boxes. Shoot for 10-12 optical zoom over the standard 3-4.
