Endgamer,

Great post!

Damn, some great posts by the Prof and Endgamer.

I am pretty much the same person. I hate bullshit, and have no problem calling it when a person decides that it is okay to spew it around me. Respect me and I will respect you.

But I am also one of the most fun loving people you’ll ever meet.

I do think that there are a lot of people that act way tougher on here than they ever would in real life, though.
I am one of those people who seeks to post the same way I would deal with you in person. My issue is not with who uses words the best to defend their arguments (since I think that is critical and one of the great equalizers of the Internet).

My problem is with the “Internet tough guys” who seek to stir crap up because they are safe and cozy behind their computers. They would never even think to make their remarks to someone’s face in “real life”, so they lurk in the shadows of the Internet.

So yes, the Internet certainly differs from real life and I think you shouldn’t let the opinions of anyone else ruin your day. I just find it comical that there are those who express opinions strictly to antagonize others because they now have a nice little computer screen to hide behind. That’s just punking out.

Beyond that, endgamer pretty much nailed it. Context is everything and the Internet, forums, e-mail, etc. just do not convey that well.
