I could try that. Il have to practice cooking meat first, of course, but I definitely could do that.
It’s not that hard. If you’re worried about doneness you can pick up a meat thermometer for less than $10 at Wal-Mart or Amazon.
This will be a super valuable skill to learn.
Maybe offer to help whichever parent is cooking, and learn from them while providing assistance.
I’ve helped mom cook ground meat before, just turn the heat on about medium, place the ground meat in, and stir ever so often to mix it up and keep the bits small (works with shaved meat too).
As you look ahead to jobs, if I may, I’ve been incredibly impressed with what Chick-fil-A does with young people. I’ve known a handful to end up owning stores with paid-off degrees in their 20s.
Not super pertinent today, but a year goes quickly.
When I was in high school a few guys would try to work at the local buffet because they could eat for free - huge perk if the point of the job is buying food. I think Panda Express would be a good one too.
I do wholly agree with the social aspect of dieting, or doing anything differently than family for that matter. I grew up in a small town in NC, and the only question that came up on my recent visit was “well, you’ll move back here now, right?” It’s a pretty natural order.
I’ll bet a small garden center or nursery would hire a strong 15-year-old. Carrying mulch and small trees to cars; good workout.
Totally. Hardware stores too.
I like at 15 you care about this, I know I didn’t at 15 and have been playing catch-up ever since.
Like the others have said, chicken, eggs, oatmeal and with that you can buy big bags of chia seeds, flax seeds, sunflower seeds to add into it, it all adds up.
A good whey protein powder, get a vanilla one as you can adda banana and other frozen fruit such as strawberries etc, chocolate powder and whatnot.
I am a big fan of tinned fish - load up on Sardines, mackerel etc - if you are short on cash, buy the cheaper ones in vegetable oil and progress to sardines in olive oil when you become loaded!
Lentils! Cheap, easy to cook and put some Badia and a stock cube of your choosing and you have a tasty meal with all the protein, anyway, you’re on the right road to a life of success! Good luck!
