Diebold Machines WORK!

So the election is over and the dust has settled. The Democrats won and won big! Congratulations to each and every one of them! Kudos! Well done.

But there is ONE question that keeps dogging me: Why aren’t we hearing the shrill cry of ‘THE ELECTION WAS FIXED’! Why aren’t we hearing the conspiracy theories about rigged Diebold machines?

Could it be for the only reason you WON’T hear that shit: Because the liberals won? I suspect that’s the only way we can have a ‘fair’ election now, right? Because if they lose…well…it HAS to be rigged!

Actually, problems have been reported.

See:
http://www.forbes.com/home/security/2006/11/10/voting-fraud-security-tech-security-cz_bs_1113security.html
for more about a case where 18,000 votes have gone missing - in an race where the winner was by a margin of 386 votes.

It’s not a matter of who wins; it simply seems that people don’t care whether their votes are counted or not.

In my case, Quebec has currently banned those machines for all elections until they can be shown to be reliable and accountable.

On some states it’s the reps who want it banned and the dems who want to use them. It all depends on what party is closest to the company in that region.

Hack - you ought to watch the documetary Hacking Democracy!

I don’t trust those damned machines. I filled out a paper ballot. I don’t think there’s an organized effort to fix the results in favor of a particular party… I just think these things are the wrong answer to a question no one asked.

The sad fact is that we have dumbed down the election to the point that it’s unwieldy and - maybe - less reliable (i.e. more opportunity for error). The reason for this is because the defects in the system were exposed in the 2000 election. You know. When Gore essentially brought our Republic to it’s knees with is crying, whining and carping.

Probably because the makers of the Diebold machines publicly swore that Bush would be elected if they had anything to say about it. And clearly they have nothing to say about it anymore than any other American that can vote EXCEPT that they conveniently manufactured machines for which there was signficant independent evidence that at least some of them were compromised. The next time Democratic supporters from Diebold or any other manufacturer goes spouting off like that and there is similar extrinsic evidence that there are problems with those voting machines, there will certainly be similar cause for concern.

Voter fraud has been going on forever. Like in Chicago where dead people have often been known to vote in bygone years. There have been elections where there has been over 100% voter turnout. With the state of electronic voting, fraud is just easier and harder to detect. I think it’s an unwelcome development, totatlly aside from any partisian accusations of abuse on either side.

“Chief Executive Walden O?Dell said in a letter that he was ?committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to the president.”

It was everywhere, even on Fox News. You don’t remember this? O’Dell actually resigned over this issue amidst the very real security concerns about the machines.

Of course, being a staunch Republican supporter and CEO of a company that manufactures voting machines doesn’t AUTOMATICALLY mean that he was rigging votes. But admist the many security concerns, it is a conflict of interest.

Here’s one article.

I will tell you that in the corporate world directors would be forbidden from dismissing derivative suits if they had the kind of ties to the defendants that the CEO of Diebold had to the Repbublican party. They would be deemed either interested or lacking independence.

Uh, that would be Bush who was ‘selected’ by the way.

That is irrelevant now. Bush will go down as the worst President since Harding and if you thought Clinton’s investigations were a circus…you ain’t see nothing yet.

I wanted a name and context so I could read up on it.

bwahahaha! i was wondering when somebody would bring this up. i guess the machines were not THAT bad seeing how the Dems won, haha.

I have read a couple of cases where votes went missing. Including one where I think it was a guy voting for himself on a machine registered zero votes, but he know he at least voted for himself. Only something like 18 votes were used on that machine too. Will try to find the article or see if there was an update to it.

Ha ha, silly, you just didn’t wait long enough for the analyses to be completed.

Karl screwed up. The poor little genius miscalculated and didn’t ask Diebold for a big enough bump.

There were problems with these machines all over the country.
