N.Korea is a special situation. In my opinion, they just want cash and think that by black mailing the USA they will get it. You also have to take into account the fact that they aren’t as unstable as Saddam, in regards to other countries of course. There is also pressure that can be applied to them by China; which has probably supplied them with the material and technology. All in all, I believe it is more of a cash ploy than anything else. Really, what does N.Korea have to gain by getting nukes? Not much, unless they like; added pressure by non-govermental organizations, becoming a bigger target for spies, the huge cost of maintaining and proliferating nuclear weapons and don’t forget the disgust of the “humanitarian world” for spending their cash on nukes rather than feeding their own people. Well, I hope I helped. Bye

Here’s the problem I have with your answer. If the N. Korea has Nukes which I believe they do. They should be treated the same as Iraq. And if its because of money isn’t that more of a threat then Iraq? Iraq has money and is not blackmailing US for money. Mace, lets say some take your child and is blackmailing you for money what would you do? You want to kill the bastard Or find ever means possible to get your kid back. Also there’s a lot of hatered between N. Korea and the US. especailly now with the Bond movie and all… What if China sides with N. Korea I think its all over then. Also I believe there reason Musliam hates the US is because we don’t treat every situation the same. Why give the extreme fundmentist an oppertunity to even make that statement? I say if they have nukes what ever country that is not suppose to have nukes bomb them all… elimnate no threats. There is no Negotiation…

Fitone, you cannot honestly espouse that opinion, can you? The world is a bit more complex than that. If we decide to “just bomb” North Korea, then we risk the lives of 30,000 or so US troops in the area plus millions of South Korean lives, and possibly Japanese lives. N. Korea HAS two nuclear weapons already and probably have no problems with using them.

The difference between N. Korea and Iraq is that Iraq LOST A WAR and surrendered under certain terms which include nonproliferation of WMD. We are making sure that they live up to their end of the surrender agreement.

I believe that the n.koreans lost a war also… I just saying treat your enemies or people equally and you’ll have no problem, treat them diffrently you’ll have a war. Or somewhere and someone will go against u.

Fitone, North Korea did NOT lose a war. At the end of the conflict, the US, China, and N. Korea signed an armistice, which ended the fighting, but was not a surrender by either side. The terms of this are that each side stops fighting. There were no other terms. Again, this fails to support your argument about N. Korea being the same as Iraq. These are two totally different situations.

If someone would take my fictional child, i would have to consider a one thing; is this guy stable enough to deal with? Say someone took my kid, is it smart for me to not answer his calls, ignore him, threaten him and just try and attack him when all he wants is cash and not my kid?. No, it wouldn’t be. You would have to deal with the situation differently for different people.

Please stop defiling this wonderful thread. I know you are european. I know your day has passed. I’m sorry for you. However, yipping at the big dog isn’t going to return you to international prominence. When you post, please add something relevant. I’d like to know what you would do. Think for yourself. Don’t just throw mud.

North Korea seems to be a regime that is on the verge of collapse. The trick will be to put enough pressure on their leaders so that it implodes on its own. I’m not sure of the best approach here. I know they are using the nuclear weapons for political capital. It’s unfortunate that they haven’t been able to figure out the communism and brutal dictatorships are very poor forms of government. However, if they supply terrorists with fifty cents of support, my pity dwindles to nothing. Therefore, our role should be to put enough international pressure on them so that their regime falls on it’s own. There should also be a massive information barrage using radio broadcasts and other methods of dissemination. The real challenge will be to encourage the chinese to play along. I’m not sure it can be done. However, I feel that balanced diplomacy is the key in North Korea. hussein will probably have to be stomped like the bug that he is.

Eggnog, you have more patience than me that’s for sure. I wouldn’t bother replying, I don’t know how some of these lemons foung their way out of the womb.
