Niiiiiiice! Not too bad of a kip, I think my first ones must have probably looked something like that.
So I haven’t trained out of class this week. Tired, getting acclimated to the hours, and the weather was bad. Thursday morning start with 4 hours of sports (2 hours of conditioning, 30/30, crossfit stuff), then 1h of dancing, then 1 hour of snatch practice, I was famished the whole day and night afterwards. I’m thinking I’ll be eating a bigger breakfast from now on, and put carbs in it!
Also I don’t think I’ll start with an oly program yet, we are doing a lot of practice stuff, with sticks and all, I want to stay in the same groove. Most likely just will do my initial plan of Jacked 31
Also, I’m feeling leaner, and am a bit lighter, which was the goal ahah
Alright so I did my first Murph, time 57 min. @kleinhound you are a God. I guess was inspired by you wand wanted to try this, as I’ve been neglecting a lot cardio. Friday we did two rounds of tabata exercises, the Fraser ones, and I might have went at it too hard and too fast, and yeah it was really hard on my cardio.
Anyway. i knew I was tired because just the first run sucked. I was slow. but then the 100 pull-ups… I was doing sets of 5. first 25 pronated, then 25 neutral grip. My left elbow started hurting at 40. i did one set of supinated but nope, went back to pronated. Afterwards I had to do sets of 4 because I lacked the power to get my chin over the bar on the fifth.
Then the push-ups. Nice burn and chest sensations relaly ahahah. Did sets of 10. Around 100 I started with sets of 5, but honestly It took too much time, I did the last 40 with sets of 10. i should’ve just pushed harder.
The squats well I was getting slower by then, working out for already 40 mins ahahah. Didn’t push myself really hard there. Then the last run my heart immediately went up and my leg were so heavy…
I think I’m going to do more WOD-y workouts and more cardio. I really, really need to improve my VO2… I really feel unfit, fat and weak right now ahahah
If you’re unfit, fat, and weak, what am I lol?
Nice workout aldebaran!
I feel its important to highlight how much extra work you’ve been doing physically since starting school. I imagine you would’ve had an even better performance a few weeks prior
Yeah sure but it’s excuses. Almost an hour sucks according to the charts. Sure I’ve got to get used to it, waking up at 6 everyday and going from 27 to 55 hours of work and commute, but yeah I feel like I should have done better
I’d call it an explanation
Id probably die on the first run but the rest sounds like fun. I dunno how to do crossfit pull ups so theres that. Whats the strats? Supersets/Giantsets? I’m thinking 10x10 pull ups, sets of 20 on push ups be pretty ez, sets of 30 on squats be burny. Die again on the second run.
Me neither, the pull-ups took me like 18 mins…
I checked beforehand on the web and a popular strategy is sets of 5 pull-ups, 10 push-ups, 15 squats. When you have to do this many it’s better to do shorter sets. There is a version where yeah you can mix exercices as much as you want, but for whatever reason I did the hard one: all the pull-ups then all the push-ups then all the squats
You were comparing yourself to kleinhound, does he use that strategy?
Well no I knew there was no way I would beat him ahahah
I used charts on the first Crossfit website I found saying that the average Murph without a jacket is 48 mins for men and 51 for women. Beginners: over 70 mins. Intermediate: between 45 and 70. Advanced: 35 and 45. Athlete: less than 35
- does 47min… guess I’m extra ordinary
Well, aren’t they presumably doing it the using the popular strategy rendering your comparison invalid and just self-deprecating?
As an aside: Seems like the grading shouldn’t just be Athlete, but CF Athlete, because there is no way to improve your time by doing decent quality pull-ups.
I went and search and yeah apparently the WOD is supposed to be partitioned that way, in sets of 20 “Cindy” lol
Yeah 1 RM don’t matter much here, more cardio and muscle endurance. I’ve been doing too much heavy work with very long rest I think, because during the bodyweight girls class I couldn’t keep up, my legs were burning so much I literally couldn’t do more reps
I just found your log. Well you’re in your late teen and you started what, a few months ago ahah? you’re in the best time of your life, I wish I had started resistance training sooner. You’ll grow like a weed!
Me, I just think I really need to work harder. Bla bla bla ectomorph most likely not much T but these are just excuses. When I did Crossfit 3x a week + coached by CT 3x a week I progressed a lot. I trained super hard. Because yeah I can work like a crazy person on a bodybuilding drop set blabla but I often skip cardio or rehab ahah.
Right now I just feel a lot of pressure on myself. I’m surrounded by national, world-class athletes and even Gold medalist and world champions. In my class there are two ex-military on PEDs who looks like Gods. And no, I’m not complete shit. I beat by a good amrgin the one guy on PED in my group on OHP, but so what, the guy trains for size and to do IFBB pro shows, not for strength!
Honestly, in the last 4 years, my lifts barely moved. Squat yeah. Body comp improved nicely. strength on accessories etc but really not much on the big 3. Feeling like in a permanent plateau. And yeah the one thing I feel I have is a decent physique so I’ll be trying to get at least that beforehand (because it’s fast and easier to lose fat) because honestly I just feel bad right now ahahah
Especially in the cardio things. I suffered the most during Tabata stuff. Sure we were only 3 people to do power snatch correctly (the other two do Crossfit), but one has horrible mobility, the other one weighs 50 kgs, so yeah of course I demolished the bar on cleans and snatches and it was so fast and noisy the other pupils were a bit in awe.
Yeah I’m quite explosive for my size, and I’m good technically, but I feel these traits are usually not what people research/ look up to.
I don’t know I guess I’m just being extra hard with myself ahah? I really feel sometimes like I want to punish myself for not dieting and training harder. Sometimes I feel like a kid who has trouble repressing his emotions, like there’s some girl I’m obsessed with, like an highschool teen ahahah.
Sometimes I feel like I’m sucking my dick, but I guess we shouldn’t only look at the negative right? I feel like bragging etc is very bad and that i speak too much about myself in general.
Anyway, enough rambling. I did 30 mins of moderatley hard cycling. I think I’ll drive by to the next big city where gyms are open later and train there
Nope
IMO you’re better off doing only a slight kip, full butterfly chins will gas you way too quick and strict chins are too slow
Mate you did by far the hardest way
I personally found 10 rounds was the best for me, 20 rounds of 5/10/15 just felt like it lasted forever
I wouldn’t have kept up the 10 x 10 pullups for sure ahah
