Yeah I’m plenty aware I even wrote an article on the subject lol.
As long as you don’t abuse it or drink it too frequently you’ll be fine

Moderation is SO much more difficult than abstinence. And the social connection can’t be overstated, along with cultural and historical. There’s a lot of positives to be attributed to alcohol consumption irrespective of physical impact.
This is very true. My country is notorious for its alcohol consumption and heritage. I never drink alone or something. It’s purely to enjoy with friends, it’s a social thing to me
And so much of society and culture has been built around the consumption of alcohol. It’s one of the earliest of creations, and every society has their own version of it. Like anything, it can be abused, but it can also be used to enrich things.
I don’t necessarily think France is “notorious” for alcohol consumption, if anything, it’s respected for it
Russia (and most of Eastern Europe)on the other hand…
Preface: I basically don’t drink. I might have a digestif after dinner (like Underberg or Akvavit), but otherwise not really.
However, my buddy and I homebrew our own mead and cider, like the proper Scandinavians we are. I rarely drink it, so I have huge stores in my cellar, but the experience of brew days are so much fun. We spend all day on it, our wives get involved, we have dinner together, and once it’s aged and ready, there’s another inevitable reason to get together and share it. It additionally makes great gifts for people. The bonds created through the entire process are so important.
Alcohol doesn’t have to be evil, it’s just been abused.
That sounds awesome! I want to experiment with homebrewing mead. I’ve tried a couple of times in the past, but couldn’t get it to ferment
Have you tried making honey vinegar out of the mead?
Mead can be finicky because honey is devoid of nutrients that yeast need, so you need to baby it for the first week or so. However, once that’s done, it’s incredibly hardy due to honey’s natural antibacterial properties, so it’s really hard to mess it up and have it go bad like other liquors.
I haven’t. I don’t really have any desire to make vinegar out of it because I’m not the kind of person that wants/needs vinegar for lots of other things.
Very, very tired today. With some headache. I’ve had lots of trouble sleeping. Lots of stress (financiary, relantionship) as well as lots of guilt for some error I did (I always am super hard with myself, whereas I should accept the fact that everyone makes mistake and the path to becoming a better human is long and takes effort)
I’ve been numbing my mind with partying and alcohol again. It’s not great but I feel like doing nothing in this state of stress/fatigue/ennui.
Tonight gonna be working on the website with my mate finally, this should remotivate me.
16/08/21 - Lower day 1 - Thor
A. Trap-Bar Jump + Vertical Jump 3 x 3 + 3 with 40 kgs
B. Front Squat 3 x 6 with 100 kgs
C. Deadlift 1 x 6 with 170 kgs, 2 x 6 with 150 kgs
I was so, so tired from this week-end (is it sun exposure that tires us so much?) That I only did this.
Well I think this is a nice PR on the deadlift though
You can see I was very tired because my grip failed, so I switched to mixed, which I hate and am really not used to on the last rep.
Probably should have used a little bit less of weight on the FS. It was a very intense effort. And FFS I tried to be as upright as I could but seeing the video I was still bent forward ughhh
17/08/21 - Upper day 1 - Thor
A. DB Snatch 3 x 5 per arm with 20 kgs
B1. Military Press 1 x 6 with 70 kgs, 2 x 6 with 60 kgs
B2. Pull-ups 3 x 6 with 10 kgs
C. Muscle Snatch + OVH carry 3 x 5 + 30m with 50 kgs
D. Paused Bench Press 1 x 110 kgs
So that’s a huge PR. My all-time best was 70 x 3 or 75 x 1. Core work and carries have paid up. I was happy. I think it was a nice 4 on the Simo scale
Bench failed at 120 kgs, but it was almost there! 110 flew but I should have done 115 before. With the bench I always do better with more, little jumps…
Maybe I got a little cold from the fans this night… But yeah I don’t feel so good. I doubt it’s the 'Rona though, got tested again this saturday.
Anyway the most pressing thing on my head is the girl of course, I fear I probably shouldn’t have left here another chance and been so weak? But she has so much power over me. I really dislike being emotional or that hit me so much. It’s like I never evolve ahah.
Anyway, soon I’ll be doing another program, this should be nice as well
I mean, you also hit a press PR right before, so this isn’t so surprising.
Big numbers in here, buddy!
Yes yes, also I only did 120 once (no pause), and it was fresh in the session, there it was at the end! I think I would have done it without the pause so that’s progress!
Also, I must tell you, my quads and whole back, especially lwoer back and LATS were toast after monday’s session.
My lats were sore AF like if I had done 100 pull-ups! So yeah PC, the deadlift doesn’t build a greta back

Yesterday I woke up tired from just these two exercises, like a truck had passed over me. Today I still feel sore
18/08 - some cardio
20 min rower
40 push ups, lunges, med ball slam, sit-ups
15 mins run under the sun
I had zero motivation to do this and it sucked the whole time but at least I did something
You demonstrate a slight misunderstanding of the Simo scale…a 4 literally means the bar doesn’t move for 4 seconds while you stand there, probably crapping your underpants in the process. Those never stopped, so I would call it a 0.9 on the scale. Which is still hard as balls.
Watch the little hitch you got going in the knees there, if you are worried about keeping it super strict. Nice PR in any case!
I would like to point out that the whole underpants thing was never proven !!
Nice work on the press either way @aldebaran
Lmao I thought this a little too but only because it was something you said to me last time I did any overhead work.
Ohhh I had not even noticed! I’ll keep that in mind.
My guess is that I got used to have loose knees and been them during the eccentrics of my heavy push presses and jerks ![]()
Awesome pressing dude
Yeah, I myself have been made aware of it (by my smart-mouthed 16 year old) for the same reason. When it is just so slight like that, you might not even notice it. When you are repping like that, no big deal. But when I find out I do it on a max single….I don’t count it. And get angry with myself.
It is still a killer exercise with or without knee wiggles, so this is all splitting hairs.
Sorry to hear about the girl troubles.
For how long have you known each other? The relationship is pretty young at this point, no?
I am not trying to play devil’s advocate or something in case that’s how it reads.
Maybe… But come on!
