Death Proof

…if you haven’t seen the latest Tarantino, here’s your chance for a limited time only. You’re not gonna regret it: http://eksystems.blogspot.com/

[scroll down and make sure you have the divx webplayer]

You cannot put something on the 'net “for a limited time only.” Once it’s out, someone, somewhere has a copy of it forever.

Anyway, the best part of the whole Grindhouse deal is the fake “Machete” preview at the beginning of Planet Terror. The rest is very average and much too long.

The funny thing is … the trailer isn’t fake anymore.

Robert Rodriguez had been tinkering around with the idea of making ‘Machete’ ever since he cast Danny Trejo in ‘Desperado’ back in 1993. After making the trailer for the ‘Grindhouse’ intermission, he decided to go ahead and shoot it as a straight to video flick.

Once the studio execs saw the trailer and the audience feedback, they convinced Rodriguez to make ‘Machete’ for theatrical release. Not a bad idea considering Rodriguez’s penchant for making movies on the cheap that almost always turn a profit. Even his flops make the studio money.

‘Machete’ is currently scheduled to be released sometime in 2008.

I’m waiting for a Grindhouse DVD set with Planet Terror and Death Proof… if it never comes out then it wasn’t meant to be.

Grindhouse is coming out in June I think. It sucks how they released them seperatly.

Overall I think the fake trailers were the
best. Death Proof is a great slasher movie. Plamet terror was hilarious. I would suggest that anyone that liked these look up some of the old explotation movies and watch them. The originals are also very funny to sit down and watch with a couple of friends.

Death proof was one of the lamest movies I have ever seen.

The fake trailers were great. The films themselves were ok, I enjoyed them, but am not in a hurry to see them again. But the fake trailers and seeing it all together made the whole experience work. I don’t know why they would release the films seperately. Stupid.

$$$$$$

They released them separately so that fans of the franchise would triple up on their purchase. They got 'em once for the Death Proof release, they got 'em again with the Planet Terror release, and they’ll get 'em a third time when the Grindhouse box set comes out.

Greedy as hell? Yes.

Stupid? No.

Rose McGowan is severely dickable. I want to rape her face. I rented both Grindhouse and Death Proof just to see her.

I just came in here to say one thing: “White meat, dark meat, all will be carved…THANKSGIVING!” lol

I think there’s a rumor that Eli Roth wants to actually make a theatrical release of “Thanksgiving” also, ha ha ha ha.

Thanksgiving was the best one.

Death Proof was much better than Planet Terror IMHO. It was a much deeper exploration of the characters, and the dialog was as sharp as it gets. Alas, superficial is much more popular…

That needs to be one of those movie critic quotes on the back of the box set, whenever it comes out.

Tarantino’s head is wedged too far up his own ass. He is in love with his own dialogue, and has too much say over the final cut of his films. If he had a good strong editor who wouldn’t let him get carried away with himself he could be a great filmmaker again.

Deathproof took forever and a day to get going, way too fucking long.

anyone insulting deathproof is a moron… the movie was very good and i think lixy’s post hits the nail on the head…

dialogue was awesome, ppl who think otherwise are obviously too stupid to appreciate it

what would u rather watch? the same cliche bullshit that pervades 90% of movies today… obviously chances are high because this is what sells…

this both disgusts and delights me as it affirms that i am much smarter than everybody

go watch The Mist u dumbfucks

This just in - The SATs and the ACT have been dropped by all state universities as an application requirement. Their replacement? A review of the movie Death Proof and it will be graded as either pass or fail. Pass if you like it, fail if you didn’t.

Exactly. Those girls bored the crap out of me; I was ready to off 'em myself. Once they were out of the way, the movie was quite enjoyable.

You Sir! FAIL!!!

Death Proof shows what a proper car chase should be. None of that Fast and Furious rice burner crap. Sure there are some good ones cropping up every now and again, Ronin, the Bourne series, and few others. A few directors make use of new tecnology to enhance the explosions and can make some spectaculor crashes like in Deja Vu or The Island, but that’s just splash. Real car chases need to go old school.

  1. Vanashing Point (1971) - the original not the shitty remake with Viggo Mortensen

  2. Gone in 60 Seconds (1974)- the original not the shitty remake with the over hyped homo Nicky Cage

  3. Bullitt (1968) - fortunately nobody’s had the balls to remake this one.

  4. The JunkMan (1982)
