I’ve been doing some stand-up comedy and I’ve realized that I basically do stuff that Jay Leno would use in his monologue. I aspire to Louis CK but I never get quite that incisive.
Is this at clubs Nards? vids?

I watched Tom Segura. He’s funny, no doubt. But Bill Burr has a current of anger going through his act that I can really relate to.
Tom seems pretty laid back.
I like it, too, and have been sucked in since I saw the above-posted vid last night.
I found this one interesting - it explains the anger. Which I also can relate to.

I really like Bill Burr, but that was more like a therapy session than a comedy act. I was kind of weirded out by the whole thing.

Oh, definitely! I should have mentioned that it’s not funny.
I was weirded out by the Philadelphia one. This one was simply interesting to me.
You guys know that’s part of The Moth Story Hour program, right? Don’t believe it was intended to be a comedy act, nor expected to be by the audience

I did not know that. I guess I was thrown by the “comedy arts” poster on the wall there.
I’ve never heard of the Moth Story Hour program.

I have a video but I’m not posting it! Well maybe in a PM for you.
Yeah I do it at clubs around town. Usually 20 to 50 people. I’ve done about 25 shows.
That would be cool and much appreciated.
Did you ever go to Rumours in the Wpg? Gone a few times with my bro and haven’t been disappointed yet except yelling at some dipshit in the crowd to stfu.

I’ve been there a couple of times.
Yeah, maybe I’ll submit my video or comedy resume and do a show there next time I’m in town and you can come see it.
well I for one would love to see this video Nards. Getting up on stage and doing stand up is about the bravest thing you can do in my opinion

LOL

Thanks.
It can be hard but unlke most public speaking you can have a few drinks before without anyone looking down on you. That’s really a big bonus, I’m not kidding.
The other thing is IF you are delivering some funny material then you get positive feedback in laughter and even applause…so you keep going feeling better about your bit and hopefully those laughs come after each joke.
There are guys in my troupe that get very little laughter so I wonder how they keep going up because they’re not getting the positive reinforcement. I mean if you give a speech at Toastmasters or something nobody is going to make any noise till you’re done and all you can expect is some applause…so in comedy you either get laughs and feel good or the silence tells you that you are dying up there.

I’ve heard people get annoyed about South-east Asian language but not about European language.
Does that count?
LOL
