Notes: What a change from last weeks workouts! I had so much energy today and felt super strong with the bench!

Really happy with how today went. Thanks for all the positive comments ladies (and gents!)

Nadia - Luckily my injuries haven’t really affected my lifting all that much (besides my squat) but it does get irritating not being able to kneel and do other daily movements. However everyday I notice a better range of motion!!

Gregron - Welcome! Thanks for popping in.

Glad to hear you’ve got your mojo back, Dani. And congratulations on your bench!

About your pushups, I was just talking about this on Kimba’s log a few days ago. I remember when I first started, being all proud of my pushups and my husband had to tell me that I needed to get A LOT lower. Then I saw Kelly Ripa doing them on her show and she was showing everybody her awesome pushups and they were also these sort of mini-half-way deals. Very funny. Apparently it’s a common problem. Who said the body weight stuff is easy? Pullups especially. Butt-kickers fo’sho’.

Keep it up!

Here’s the clip of the sad pushups. They start out not SO bad but keep watching. I will give her credit for the high heels and skirt.

Thank you! I just posted the video now, took forever to load. And those push ups aren’t TERRIBLE. I’m pretty impressed she can do that many!

nice benching Dani. you eccentric portion was a lot faster than I was expecting lol. Congrats on the PR

What gym are you lifting at? is it a school weightroom?

Nice back arch.
Those girls in the background are pretty distracting…

Thank you! I am lifting at my college gym. It’s the best gym I’ve ever seen however it is filled with morons.

Thanks, I’ve never really filmed my bench before so when I watched, I was surprised at my crazy arch! Yes, the girls in the background WERE very distracting. Their “coach” was having them on a circuit which involved shadow boxing and jumping without a rope. It was so ridiculous that I was laughing in between sets. Plus, when I wasn’t looking, they took a plate off my bar to use for their stupid exercises. GRRRRRRRR!!!

And woops…I just realized I didn’t post my deadlift video. Instead I put two of the bench. I guess I shouldn’t be calling anyone a moron

oh videos! YOur bench and DL look great! Cute socks.

Nice arch. And an impressive deadlift.

Keep shuffling.

i missed the DL vid… great pull! how tall are you? you’ve got some crazy long legs.

that gym did kinda look like a nut house lol

Thank you! I’m 5’7" I think my long legs help me in the deadlift but I blame them for my shitty squat :frowning:

and that gym used to be a well kept secret where I could lift alone…word must have gotten out and now it’s filled with groups like this.

nice bench and deads!!

I would be so pissed at the crowd. I’d probably start walking and kicking the mess and say, “if I kick you it’s your fault, you’re in MY WAY.”

Nice benching Dani! That is some serious arch action. I know I’m a lot more flat. I wonder what that means? And I’m Jelly of those long legs.

As for Kellly’s pushups, I’ll give her the first 15 but by the end she’s barely moving and the guy is hitting the floor. Hey, if we can’t enjoy the bitchy celebrity gossip, what’s left to talk about? LOL! I will say I think she’s cute as can be. And I envy her heel collection.

lol the image of that cracks me up. It seriously is almost a hazard to have people being that obnoxious. I’ve even had people walk on the platform behind me when I’m squatting/pressing. No gym etiquette I tell you!

I really exaggerate my arch because I feel like I get more stretch reflex out of it and I can activate my lats better. I’d recommend working on it!

9/8/11

Warm up: Dynamic hip warmup, PVC rolling, asian squat stretching,

Squats
BW x 10 x 2
Bar x 2
65 x 5
65 x 5
65 x 5
65 x 5

Good mornings - this is the first time I’ve ever done these so I kept it at the bar to see how my hip would react, all went well!
bar x 10 x 5

Ab wheel rollouts
BW x 5 x 3

Step ups on box
BW x 20

Notes: I’ve stopped using 5/3/1 for squats. My left hip feels like it’s made of sandpaper and I even tried to just squat light today to get them warmed up (sometimes that helps). Even after the hip warmup and BW stuff, it felt horribly tight. There was some clicking, snapping, rubbing going on all over the place. My coach made the (frustrating) point that I should probably stop squatting and focus on rehab, even if takes me a year to feel better. I know it’s the right thing to do, but it’s a hard pill to swallow. I’m going to see how box squats make me feel and hope those work out. If not, barbell step ups have always felt painless and I can do those in place of squats. For the time being, I’ll be sitting on an ice pack and using the foam roller.

Ugh, I have hip issues too but I put it down to decades of sitting on my arse. I find stepovers helpful. High box step-ups are good too.

Stepovers?? Like the soccer drill? I’m not quite sure I know what to do there. I’m pretty sure my hips are destroyed from running cross country when I was younger.
