Daily Protein Intake

Does anyone know why we should consume 1 gram(give or take) per pound of body weight? I’m asking because this doesn’t take into account bodyfat(I don’t think) and I’m confused why someone with the same muscle mass(say person A with 25% BF and person B has 3% BF) would need to eat different amounts of protein if they both had the same amount of lean mass, ie to maintain their current muscle mass.

Well your “ment” to take in 1g for each pound of Lean body mass. Ie: each pound of muscle, not fat. but people simplify it to 1g per pound of bodyweight. But it doesnt REALLY matter. These things are kinda flexible. some people would happily consume 2g/pound…

You make a good point tw0scoops2. Really the only potential protein intake difference between a hypothetical 200lb person at 3% v 25% body fat would equate to 44 grams of protein (176 calories).
I say err on the liberal side and get your protein in!

Yeah I calculated that after I thought about it. Good point.

I use 1.25g per pound of lean body mass instead.

And some people are growing faster than others…

I am 200 pounds and I regularly consume 300+grams of protein daily.

hehe. that made me laugh. yea i know too well how bad the protein farts can get.lol

I weight about 205, eat anywhere from 200-250 on an average day. Basically try to get between 40-50g each feeding. Sometimes I get a little less, sometimes a little more. I’m sure it all balances out

I weigh 210 lbs and I eat 300+ grams of protein a day on most days.

P.S. I could kill small children and animals with most of my farts.

At my hyogest, I was 235 and my last bulk effort had me at 1.75 grams per lb of body weight(not LBM). So I was trying to get over 400 grams/day. I will happily admit that I have an almost insatiable appetite and that my stomach is a bottomless abyss, that being said, it sucked, and I cut back and decided to try and get under 10% BF rather than add more mass I didn’t really want. For that fact alone I decided I would probably never be a really jacked looking dude.
