How is this not obvious? Yeah, SOME people have serious insulin problems and therefore have a very hard time not being fat. The VAST MAJORITY of people, and I daresay the majority of obese people, DO NOT have that problem. It’s not coincidence that most fat people eat like crap, and lots of it. Friend of mine claims he can’t lose weight…claims he eats healthy…says he exercises hours per week, etc etc.

Is that so?
Then please research the numbers when it comes to American insulin resistance and dianetes and get back to me.
I am very interested in the “overwhelming majority” part once you have actually looked at the numbers.
Instead I welcome this blatant demonstration of how obesity is seen in large parts of society and I am glad this poster you referenced could never get fat because of food allergies, hormones and other namby bamby stuff like this because his WILL IS STRONG, LIKE THOR THE GOD OF THUNDER.
Meanwhile, grownups will continue to search for real world solutions that work for real people.

I’m not saying I buy this whole theory, but I tell ya, it makes some pretty good sense and is worth entertaining the idea. I at least think to blame this on the person is flawed. Again, there are some lazy people out there that eat like crap.
There are also a ton of people that exercise regularly, try to “eat healthy” and struggle to lose the weight.[/quote]
What don’t you buy? It’s well-documented that food choice affects insulin sensitivy as does excess body fat. Access body fat as a result of poor diet hurts the body’s insulin sensitivity, encourgaing more fat gain. A snowball effect.

Not in all people.
I seem to know a woman that is on an all carbs diet that is not able to gain weight.
It is next to impossible to sleep next to her because she radiates heat all night.
Of course, her ancestors had a solid 5000 year advantage over mine when it comes to the introduction of agriculture and it kind of shows.
and this by no means a knock, but take out the AAS and an aging man that doesn’t spend near the same amount of time lifting weights as he used too, you’ve got a recipe for changes in body comp.
America IS culturally fat. Fat is acceptable here. Period.
Is it “more acceptable” culturally for blacks? IDK, but there seems to be evidence for that.
Personally, moving back to America I am constantly shocked at not only the sheer numbers of obese people, but at the number of obese women. I don’t know if it is just an issue with who I’m “seeing” or “noticing” but women REALLY let themselves go these days. Over 40 it seems MANY women weigh more than their husbands!
People don’t mention it, don’t get on others for it, don’t care about it.
Personally, I got overweight this last year or two. My wife tells me about it EVERY DAY. Her message is a simple one: Yeah, we went through some stuff and you got a little big…that’s fine. STAYING big is NOT fine. We’re doing better now, honey, lose the extra weight. She is not American.
IMO we need to change our culture. I’m going to start by saying, “Boy you gained a lot of weight this year!” to more people and losing my own fat.
