Hey, this is a good topic for political argument! Maybe it is time to take over Cuba and spread democracy or something?
Cuban oil renews embargo debate
[i]
…
What has changed the equation?
Oil.
To be more specific, recent, sizable discoveries of it in the North Cuba Basin ? deep-water fields that have already drawn the interest of companies from China, India, Norway, Spain, Canada, Venezuela and Brazil.

Coastal Areas off the Florida penninsula also hold substantial reserves.
The environmental lobby prevents drilling in those area.
This basin could probably be developed, in international waters, by US firms, if we let them drill for it.
Absolutely. We are 90 miles from Cuba. But the damn enviro whack jobs prevent us from exploring. Cuba is working out a drilling agreement with China as we speak.
Mexico is exploring for oil in the same waters that the Cali enviro whack jobs prevent us from exploring in.
ANWAR is a no go as well - thanks to who? yep - enviro-whack jobs.
Anybody see a trend? Aren’t these many of the same folks bitching about how evil big-oil is?
wanna thank someone for the high gas prices? Look no further than your local enviro whack job.

Like John Kerry (Suburban AND a Hummer)? Or perhaps all of the enviro-whacko hollywood pukes that fly to the “Save the Earth” rallies in their personal Gulf Streams?
An SUV made in the last 5 years uses less gasoline than just about all of Detroit’s offerings from 1930 - 1985.
Your hatred is making you stupid - or perhaps you were just born that way.

look in a fuckin’ mirror, dude.

Do they even have mirrors in your granola-eating sandal-wearing commune?
Take a bath - you smell like hippy.
And that is not a good thing…hasn’t been since the US woke up and started voting republican.

How do you like your SUV moran?
How does it feel supporting international terrorism you moran?
Ah, you’re such a tool rainjack.
Are you typing from a plastic keyboard? Wear rubber soled shoes? Watch TV? Eat prepackaged food?
Funny how the hypocrites are always watching what others do - but rarely pay attention to they do.
How am I a toll for owning an SUV? I live over 100 miles from the nearest city, and when we go to buy groceries - we go once a month and fill the Suburban up to the top.
I guess it would be much more effecient to buy a little bitty car that get’s 40 miles to the gallon and make 5 trips as opposed to makng one trip at 20mpg.
Yeah - I cxan see where that shit saves a ton of gasoline.
Now go back to your plastic filled world and find even more ways to be hypocritical.

You own a Suburban? Man, I feel sorry for you when you have to fill that thing up! LOL!

Don’t forget about his Gulfstream jet.
It is so stupid to blame one political party for using gas.
Clinton had the opportunity to slow the SUV craze by making them meet passenger vehicle standards for safety and mileage. Instead he decided to keep them classified as light trucks.
He did this because American auto makers were doing quite well with the production of SUVs and it was a huge short term positive economic benefit to let things remain as they were.

Yeah - it hurts. About $96 per fill up.
But we live so dammed far from anything that a small car, while much mre fuel efficient, is a waste of space and time.

Get a minivan. They get better mileage than most SUVs and have plenty of room and ride well.

If he had acted to “slow the craze” everyone would be claiming he had done the wrong thing and had been interfering in the economy needlessly.
Are you actually praising him or criticizing him, it’s damned hard to tell.

Minivans don’t cut it out here. We had one, and it was trashed inside of a year. They aren’t particularly well suited for deeply rutted dirt roads. The extra 12mpg would be more than compensated for in increased repair work.
