Haha thanks but I wouldn’t say that. More like how to make it work on 3 hours a week or something like that . I have gone from working out 6 days a week in the beginning to barely getting in 4.

had some garbage today as a cheat but still staying within calories. Not stress eating or anything just saw the opportunity for a cheat day while staying within calories since I didn’t eat till 4 and went for it since it had been a while.

second post

went for deadlifts today to see if I could sneak in a pr. Got 365 for a 1rm pr on deadlift but pretty disappointed I couldn’t get 375. I would give anything for my poverty deadlift to improve. I think I am not gaining as I thought I would by focusing on weak areas and not doing the main movement.

Thanks man! I think I am just trying to do too much in too many different ways and expecting it to work out. I want to lose weight so I’m on big deficit. I want to do this competition but I also want to get bigger so I’m focusing on hypertrophy and hoping it will carry over in the last few weeks when I ramp up the weights (and I might who knows) but I think I might need to just get back to heavy weights and keep grinding at them.

Probably be better to pick one and run with it but I most definitely feel it in my soul wanting all those things and burning the candle at 7 different spots lol

yeah I think you are right. I really think I need to train for this competition more seriously or I might just embarrass myself. I can probably still do hypertrophy for accessory and still be fine as long as my deadlift and push press are heavy and I finally get back to doing conditioning.

From what I’ve read of others comps I’d go ahead and prepare to “embarrass” yourself. I don’t think anyone starts out any good and I think most work really hard for a while just to not zero all the events.

I’d just focus on giving it your best on the day and knowing you’ll be better for it and will gain knowledge from it.

Hahaha well damn! That sucks to hear. But I’m sure it will still be fun. The competition is two max events an Atlas stone and a truck pull. The only one I could zero is the truck pull since I have picked up stones before so I’m confident I can at least get 1 and the max is just that. My thing is it would be embarrassing to have 365 be my dl in front of a bunch of people pulling 600 lol.

I think they made it so people don’t really zero on this competition.

Lol no. I think you are missing the point of my posts man. My strength is increasing well in higher reps just like it likely would in deepwater except deepwater (maybe not as much who knows) I don’t really have the time to do right now and it doesn’t fit my goals since I really can’t eat to sustain it right now. My worry is how long it will take me to intensify and how much strength will carry over from higher rep work to lower rep work. I don’t have experience or knowledge in how much it carries over or how long this stuff takes. But I am getting stronger already with the time I do have and this works for me.

Need to catch up on yesterday’s logging and for today later. Went over calories yesterday because my wife talked me into having a few hard seltzer and singing wii karaoke. Most fun I have had in a while lol. Totally worth it.

Weighed 202.7 lb today so things are still moving well.

had a couple of m&ms. Had a cookie in my mouth because I was hungry and I new that it was exactly 80 calories so would be within my limit and I spit it out lol. I think months of this is starting to get to me and at 1500 cal it is getting worse hahaha. Hopefully the end is as close as I think it is.

Ok on to planning my lifting. Starts tomorrow so I need something going forward. Thinking of just seeing how many sets I can manage with 315 on deadlift and 160 on push press and seeing if I can up that or just maintain it for a while then when the competition gets close I will drop the sets and up the weight. That should at least get me semi familiar with heavy weight again and cover those bases. Will add in some clean pulls to work on my power for continentals too. At the end of these days will be back work and accessory work and then the other two days I think are fine staying hypertrophy based.
