Instead of dropping calories have you got the room to add a LITTLE cardio
I mean not enough to do any real damage
Wouldnāt take much movement to equal a smaller deficit. Just food for thought lol I hate to take away food ![]()
Good point, I just donāt have much time these days.
Something I just considered and Iām wondering if anyone else has tried something similar. Thinking of doing just an upper and lower day so 2 lifting days with sled at the end and then 2 days of rucking. I am hesitant because I really was hoping to make some good progress on lifts but I think I see now that my main frustration is I am at the point where I really need to go fully in on losing weight or gaining weight or strength. Not half assed on both.
9/28/2021
morning weight 209.7 lb
1328 cal
p 138
c 112
f 25
90 calories from a hard seltzer (see note)
OHP 105 x 12,8,6,4,2
ss
OH Tricep Extention 45 x 14,18,16,15,15
bb curl 45 x 23,20,15,15,13
upright rows 45x 15,13,12,12,12
- OHP goal was crushed by 2 reps. Fell off quickly though going to failure on all sets. Some REALLY long grinders there.
- Because weights are moving well I am hesitant to mess with anything. I think my approach is going to be manipulate my diet until things work again and try to work in some cardio in the morning if I can ever wake up again.
- I had the seltzer as a celebration for some getting some awesome feedback about my job.
- Posting comparison pictures for accountability for where I am now and where I was a month ago. Posted two just because I feel posing can throw you off a bit. No progress really. Only 3 lb or so lost. To this next month though.
How long have you been operating on reduced cals?
I have been in some kind of a deficit since June but have had a break where it was just a few hundred calories of a deficit for a couple of weeks to kind of resensitize. Since this time it feels like my maintenance calories have been all over the place.
Do you run the same deficit everyday or do you manipulate calories/macros based on the demands of the training?
It is usually the same every day with minor variation depending on my schedule and a cheat every now and then but the cheat is still in a deficit. I usually just shoot for a calorie and protien goal and let carbs and fat kind of fall where they will but I eat mostly the same thing every day.
May be worth considering some sort of carb cycling approach.
These are only 1 month apart!? Itās fantastic progress regardless of time but I feel like itās extra solid for a month
Maybe it is just me but I donāt really see it especially because the weight difference is just 3 lb lol. Kind of skewing my opinion I guess. Thanks though man.
I hadnāt thought about that. Might give it a try. Thanks man.
Bro. Quit focusing on just physical appearance, itās time to see an eye doctor and work on being able to see again ![]()

Lol I have no idea what you mean. I mean I know I can be pretty hard on myself but I really just see the same amount of ab and same love handles as before to me. Looks like I maybe put some mass on my shoulders and lats though which is a plus.
Everything on your torso is leaner/tighter and even your Mellon looks a little leaner.
I know this is the pot calling the kettle black, but Iād be ok with that progress
Lol. This was funny.
Thanks man. I appreciate it.
Sooo much this.
Listen, @cstan097, Iāve only got a minute, but⦠Iām right there with you: I post my progress photos, and I think, āMeh,ā at best or, āIāve regressed,ā at worst. Then folks who donāt look at me in the mirror everyday see the photos and say, āHey, man, youāre looking good,ā or, āNice definition in your back,ā or somethingāi.e., positive feedback, you know?
Sometimes I have a hard time accepting itāpeople here are super-supportive IMEābut then I turn around and I do the same thing: āWow, youāre looking good dude!ā or whatever. And you know what? When I post that feedback, I mean it. I think Iām a nice guy and all, but I donāt blow sunshine. Iāll try to be encouraging, yes, but if Iām not seeing a change Iām not gonna lie to someone just to boost their ego.
And so I totally agree with @wanna_be here: I can see a change. Itās real. Youāre doing hard work. And what youāre doing is working. Keep at it.
Thanks man. I appreciate the kind words.
