Day 1 HLM

Squat 245 lb x 5,5,5,5,8
ā€œPush pressā€ worked up to 155 lb x 3 then 165 lb x 2

Chinups x 5,5,4,3
Curls 65 lb x 10,7,6
Standing muscle snatch slight lean 45 lb x 6,6,6
Shoulder circuit 15 lb 2x8 reps

Ab roller didn’t count just got it in
Grip work same as abs

All done with really short rest around 45 min total… Lower back fatigue was real from last week so that was limiting factor on squats. Push Press had so.e second dip on a few so it might have been more of a jerk on some. Really excited to see how my body responds to sets of 5 for squats. Usually it does good things for me really quickly.

I need to figure out some stuff to work on my grip. I have farmers handles but I can’t use those till August 23rd or so after I move.

Note for later. Day 1 of changing it up a bit to fit schedule better. Based on Hlm structure.

That’s exciting news about the comp! Do you have any idea what movements are going to be in it?

Axel clean and press max
Deadlift from blocks max
Truck pull
Atlas stone over bar for reps
Mystery event for tiebreaker (lulz like that would be me.)

Super excited about it since there is low chance of me zeroing since it is max weight and I am familiar with atlas stones from a few years ago. Just have to make another with my mold

Definitely seems like this show favors static strength, which is probably great for you if you don’t have the best access to implements. Hit it hard, be strong af, and you should have a great time.

Yeah man I am really hoping to kill it over the next 5 months and try to push myself hard at the events. Just pulling that truck would feel bad ass. It might be crazy but I am also hoping to still lose some fat during this time to lower body fat. Hopefully I don’t screw the pooch on both by trying to do too much.

Today is a huge milestone for me. I measured at 37 inch waist. Something I haven’t done in 2 years now. My old belt that I stopped wearing around a year ago now fits me again. The cool part is I am 13 lb heavier and look bigger than I did then in my opinion. Might post some pics for comparison. On a related note, my bodyfat measured in around 19 % on the calipers and 20.2% with the navy method. I think I am a little higher than this at around 21 maybe since I keep fat on love handles and ass, but this is a giant improvement from the 28 % I was measuring almost 2 months ago at only 10 lb heavier and this means I have likely put on significant muscle. Which is awesome.

fat grip holds 135 for 3 sets to failure (10seconds about pitiful I know)
shoulder circuit 15 lb x 12,15,10
curls 45 lb x 20,13,10 (cheat on last 3 reps or so)

today was supposed to be a light leg day but I kind of wanted to try to get some snatch grip deadlifts in to see how it went. Was going to go for 2 sets of 10 but the strap slipped. Similar issue with the front squats. I was trying a hack where you hold the bar with a strap and it slipped on the 6th rep of the final set. Should have just done it the old fashioned way. Still felt like some good work. Grip needs tons of love and I will probably slowly up the volume before trying to up the weight. I measured the fat grips at around 2.5 to 2.75 inch and these are pretty hard to hold on to for me so I really need some work here. Would like to get up to being able to I guess it is called clean pull 225 or so with these on before January. Don’t know if that is realistic. Really disappointed with the bench.

edit: I am an idiot and totally strapped in wrong on the front squats lol

I think I saw in your logs at some point you mention high LDL levels but you eat primarily meat and fats. How have you kept that under control?

I will find out if I have at my next physical. The meats I eat are mostly lean and fats are primarily monounsaturated. The saturated fats I take in come from organic sources fed their natural diet, and my polys have a heavy emphasis on omega 3s.

Ah ok. So haven’t seen if they are lowered from this yet then? This is what I try to do but I know I have had issues in the past with high LDL levels for possibly different reasons though.

Edit: This is what I am trying to do NOW lol.

Yeah, I dropped it from 200 to 64 with a massive lifestyle overhaul and a statin in 3 months. Dropped the statin and slowly evolved the diet. Will see how it goes

Out of time today. Will finish the accessory stuff tomorrow. Zercher squats are pitiful compared to what they were two years ago. Hopefully this comes back fast. Realized something on deadlufts. They are a grind. I always have much more weight in me than I think since they ā€œfeelā€ slow. I thought I had only a couple of reps here based on the speed but got 12 only because I ran out of breath. Will up the weight after adding some sets in.

shoulder circuit 15 lb x 10,10 (didn’t do a 3rd since I realized I hit shoulders yesterday)

curls 65 lb x 5+3 cheat, 5+3, 5+3

fat grip holds 135 x 2 with a third broken up into mini sets short rest in between with longest set about 20 seconds
finished off with a snatch grip hold with 135 at around 20 seconds or so

went well overall for a mini session. I think I might change the schedule up a little (i know again) because I am really wanting to be in the gym more but I guess I will see.

Edit: later worked up to 115 lb power snatch which seemed easy but couldn’t get 125. Need work on this.

Working in neck exercises now too even though I haven’t started posting it yet. More of a when I can thing. No one wants to fuck with a guy with a big neck and traps Lol.
