The best bit is that Ducket decides to jump on his moral soapbox and accuses me of being a racist, even though I made absolutely no reference to race, colour or creed.
Apparently, I’m not allowed to have enough prior knowledge about African bushmen and their way of life to be able to recognize one from a photograph.
To claim that I am racist because I’m able to identify the characteristics of an African bushman is a bone-headed argument. Just because those characteristics are not easily discernable doesn’t mean that they aren’t there. That is his failing, not mine.
Even then, I’m still a racist because I allegedly told Ducket to clean up his backyard.
Meanwhile, Slimthugger is perfectly within his rights to use that same photo to reinforce his poorly phrased point about westerners ‘choosing’ to get fat, even though they have the most resources available to them to stay fit and healthy. Reasonable point. Extremely poor execution. Not worth starting a thread over.
He is allowed to not only make a joke of it, but even worse, he didn’t have the slightest idea of what struggles and injustices the man in the photo represented before using him as a reference point.
That is what I personally object to and that’s why I got involved.
Slimthugger took the bushman at face value, decided he would make a good punchline to his ‘humourous’ contribution, and only succeeded in showing himself up (again).
If anyone is guilty of assumptions based on stereotypes, it is Slimthugger, and Ducket has been vehemently fighting his corner all this time. Looks like he failed to see the irony in that.
Individuals who post this crap are only showing how ignorant and indifferent they are to what’s going on in the world. They should work on their own character flaws before pointing out anybody else’s.
I honestly think that some members of this site should forfeit their rights to start threads. If they can’t prevent themselves from posting annoying, self-promoting crap, then it should be done for them.
Judging by the generally negative reactions to this one, it would be doing them a favour. But I suppose that makes me ‘prejudiced’ against stupid people.
