Criticism of Registered Dietitians

LOL, since this thread is a complete train wreck, I’m going to point something out that I’m sure most people feel is obvious.

However, on the topic of wisdom being found on the site, I think many young people in school right now can take this as an example of how “unloading your academic credentials” on people is rarely an appropriate move.

When you walk into your first career job after school, for your own sake, don’t ever start attacking people with your credentials. You’ve seen what is likely to happen and how people are likely to view you.

See, there is “wisdom” all over the place on this site. Some positive, some negative, some simple and some hidden.

Anyway, again, sorry for pointing out something that is so obvious, but someone was bitching on another thread when it was suggested that you could gain wisdom here.

Hey guys,

“Bradley” is also “Guttus Gumptious” who’s written an article or two on Dave Tate’s site where he slams T-Nation writers.

He clearly has some self-esteem problems, as noted by his numerous posts using multiple identities, his plaintive cry for respect, and his whiny responses to posts on this thread.

Really, don’t waste your time responding to him.
I have no idea what you are talking about. I introduced this thread because of the sentiment I had in the first post I put on it. I am not Guttus Gumptuous. I have been a regular reader of this site for 7 years and have purchased products from Biotest. I also do not have a plaintive cry for respect. And again, I introduced this thread because of an issue that I felt strongly about and despite the fact that I was somewhat sarcastic, I have no idea of how I was trying to whine.

I totally agree with everthing Jason 32 said! Most of the RD I know are brainwashed by Kraft. I had an agruement with an RD at a hospital once. My friend was dying from colon cancer and they were serving her a meatloaf sandwich! I asked the idiot RD why she was feeding her this crap and she just pulled out her “old fashion Kraft pyramid” chart and said some crap about how she need this and that based on the pyramid. I was livid.Just livid. I don’t mean to disprect the RD world, I’m sure there’s alot of good ones out there, but from my experience, I just meet a lot of Kraft Robots.

What you said before abouit the “real world” is very true. Every doc I have spoken with comments that you don’t start learning until you leave school. Anyone graduating from any professional degree thinking they have it all figured out is living a fantasy. Book knowledge and real world experience can often be two seperate entities. We see that on this board almost daily.

Brainwashed by Kraft? I never received any education from Kraft. In addition, Kraft did not create the Food Guide Pyramid; rather it was the USDA.

Or he’ll pop your eye out and skullfuck you. Then give you crapass advice on how to eat healthy. So if RD’s are so knowledgeable and hard working then why the fuck is 2/3 of America overweight and obese? I don’t think someone’s doing their job.

RDs such as Colette Nelson and Lonnie Lowery are figments of my imagination.
Why do you keep bringing up these people like they’re the second coming of Christ. I have never heard of them and hope they choke on a shitty meal they “designed”. I thought you imagined 2 naked men rubbing sunscreen on each other while only eating 10% of their daily protein in a meal an eating fats sparingly.

That is a multi-faceted question. And if this line of thinking were true, then the entire health care establishment should be to blame, not just RDs. Or we can blame the average, modern American whose daily life is filled with being sedentary, overeating, and consumption to a fault of their OWN.

So, with this line of thinking, if you, E-man, never heard of someone, it means they are not valuable to their respective profession. Also, I did not refer to them as demi-gods. I referred to them as two sports nutritionists who are proficient in their professions as well as their own fitness endeavors.

Both the Bradley Grunner account and the Guttus Gumptuous account are registered with essentially the same very unique email address.

I do have to agree with BG that fat people get fat and it’s their own fat fault. Can’t blame RN’s for that!

I don’t think we can blame the obstetricians or gynecologists either!

That is a bald faced lie, considering that you cannot register two names under the same email on this site. I am not this so called poster Guttus Gumptuous. I have read his article on Elite Fitness Systems. I also do not know how you can accuse him of criticizing T-mag contributors if he did not list their names in his article.
Perhaps when I meet anyone on this website, posters or contributors, at a conference, seminar, or symposium, we can talk intelligibly and I will not be accused of elitism, asking others to handle problems, overly showing off my education, and the like, being accused of posting under different aliases, etc. I am unsure of the next one I will be attending, but when I am at one and one of you are there, feel free to approach me. I look up to many contributors to this site, so I will gladly approach them. I do not think they will mind considering I am pretty friendly and polite and genuinely want to share ideas and information in the fields of exercise and nutrition.

I dearly apologize for my sarcasm. I did not know what am offense it could be in the midst of insane arrogance and sarcasm presented on the forums on this site. I do not mind it, but this is a nice paradox. Perhaops when I am neck deep and successful in my chosen fields, I can be as arrogant as I want and I will enjoy the boot licking displayed here, whenever a new article comes out.

Do not get me wrong, I attend to this site nearly daily for the past 7 years. If it were not for this site, I do not think I would be where I am today, according to my chosen profession, outside knowledge from school, and my current strength and physique status.
If it were not for T-mag, I would have never heard of Dave Tate, and therefore would not have attened an Elite Fitness seminar in the future. I also would not have heard of Metal Militia and therefore would not have attended a Metal Militia seminar two weeks ago. The same goes for Joe DeFranco’s seminar that I attended this past winter. And I also would not have had the chance to attend an Ian King seminar, since I would not have known who he was.
I have actually shared material from this site by Lonnie Lowery and John Berardi with my fellow peers and forwarded it onto the listserv for my dietetic internship.
And to TC, I really do not know what to say about your irreverent remarks, since it was directed at a long time reader and customer of Biotest products. It was through your site that I also gave other people business, which I think is great. Some of your writings in your Atomic Dog column highly influenced the way I look at life.
Well, thats it. Whoever states “pat on the back” to me because of my writings above, I do not care. I only need pats on the back, help, and encouragement from co-workers, colleagues, friends, and family.
I thought I could reasonably converse here on this topic but I was indeed sarcastic and henceforth unapologetic for this. I will leave further discussion of this for real life interaction at a seminar or symposium as stated before.
Sincerely,
Bradley

Hell, I manage a GNC, and I know how 90% of the T-folk here feel about that company. I just do the best job that I can, and I pride myself on helping people get results - primarily by passing on a lot if info that I glean from this site.
I’m not trying to rag on you, but man, just step back and chill.
This is an example of the proper way to deal with criticism of your profession or occupation. Let your actions speak louder than your words. T-Nation busts on GNC all the time. But rather than getting all defensive and whiny, Achilles here just ignores it and tries his best to do a good job and act professionally.

BTW - I get stuff from GNC all the time (and yes, I support Biotest, too, so no one give me a hard time). If you know what you’re looking for and don’t have to rely on the know-nothing kid working the cash register, you can get some good stuff.

I am hesitant to violate your privacy, but the language I used in my post reflected the fact two people cannot have the same email address. I said they were essentially the same.

If you and another poster both stated your email address as “genuinem4buxomf@x” and “genuinem4buxomf@y” individually without being the same person, then I would be surprised. Especially since both X and Y are free email providers.

At the same time when responding to TC’s earlier post you corrected his misspelling of “Gumptious” as Gumptuous in your reply.

So, if I am mistaken, then I apologize for the accusation, however, the evidence is very strong. I guess everyone will have to decide for themselves.
