I hate ab stuff but this is my fav ab exercise so far. Alexus does them and she says they have helped her to have a strong core for squats.

Giggling vikings. giggle
:-PPPPPPP
Okay overhead press! I was being a bit of a chicken about them because ny shoulder joint(right) has been hurting during the press and it has been throwing off my form. Not sure the why there is pain because I haven’t injured it. Blah. Anyways I had to have a talk with myself about it and I have a plan for if I have to give up the overhead press, no problem.
Shoulder warm up circuit
-circles with arms
-push up plank(10secs)
-dumb bell press very light
Then push press until shoulder is warm.
Overhead Press(Millie? what’s the diff?)
75% 55lbs x 5
85% 60lbs x 3
95% 70lbs x 3(this was the old 1RM!)
Here is the vid, you can see that my right struggles more than the left. It really felt like the problem was the joint not the muscle. *Warning the hockey game was on(post game at this point I think) and there was a guy(???) in the gym who insisted on having the music on while he was lifting so we(me and his gf) couldn’t just turn off the radio and listen to the game.
After this I push pressed 70lbs for 3 sets , then 55lbs for 2
Then over head shrugs 55lbs for 1 set, then 60lbs for 3 sets
Ab superset
Roman chair leg lift/Dumbell floor press crunch*
*I have no idea what they are called but you press up the dbs then do your crunches
I think I will do these type of ab stuff on lower body days and do the planks on upper body days, my arms were fatiguing too early.
It’s a celebration! GAME 1 IN THE BAG!!! HORNS ARE BLOWING!!!
How about some East Coast flava
Great Big Sea with The Chieftans Lukey
These songs make me wish I could dance a jig or whatever you do to this music.
I have a feeling there is a lot of drinking going on in BC right now so…
*warning language
Take it away Stompin Tom Connors.

Wow your numbers are flying up. Good work!
Nice progress, Charlie! So cute in those squat vids. Your form looks nice to me. The Great Big Sea Lukey music is so happy. I hadn’t heard that before. ![]()
OK, I got the term Millie from Frenchie. Millie is just short for a standing military press. If you say OH press, that could be sitting, or with DBs or whatever. For example, I like to stand and do one arm OH presses with DBs. A lot of people are doing a military press while they sit. As I understand it, that’s not a millie.
weeeeeeeell… stronger. probably not strong, but definately stronger. they seem to help me keep my chest up when i come out the hole for squats - though i do front squat (which is supposed to involve more abs, i think). i’m actually thinking of doing them before squats to see if they have activation / potentiation benefits…

It’s the 5/3/1 program, I started it in Feb and I am right now starting to rep out my starting 1RMs. ![]()
I’ve reped out my OH press and squat 1RMs. I think I’m to be reping out my dl 1RM next (I think in a couple of weeks).

For me I have no idea what to call it, sometimes when I’m watching vids it is just called the press, maybe no one knows. lol
Giggling can screw up the form.

Yeah maybe before or maybe a lighter or bw plank could also work.
Thursday was squat day and it was a de-load so not going to bother with those numbers. The only thing I will mention about Thurs is that I tried the 45lbs plates for my weighted plank.
I did it as a superset(I think this is when you do one exercise and then another with no rest in between the two exercises)
Plank/Standing cable crunch(not sure about this one)
I did 31secs, 25secs, 21secs, 18secs
Friday was bench day.
70% 65lbs x 3
80% 75lbs x 3
90% 85lbs x 3,4
Then
-OAR
-Puffs db chest press thingys(I will give a thumbs up on this one)
-pulldowns(wide grip)
-planks(45lbs, 22secs, 29secs, 26secs, 18secs)
Just for the cute, because I need some.
one more cute
awwwwwwww. that second was was the cutest thing ever!!!
uh oh. i better keep up with my planks or you will be kicking my ass on them in no time! crazy supersets can be saved for you, though, k?
the unweighted planks for activation is a really good idea. i can play with vaccums and stuff in the plank position and hopefully get some good activation going on that way.
I love that cat hug video, it makes me go all “d’awwww!”
Military Press generally means standing overhead barbell press but in the strict sense of the definition, feet should be together.

your presses looked good.
Have you ever tried 1 arm db presses to work out any imbalances?
–also there are two camps concerning how far to bring the bar back down on the OH press.
I did them the way you are doing them and then I learned it’s ok to bring it back down to just chin level…
aw damn, that is pretty cute, too.
i heard the same about the military press. standing with heels together. i still think of my shoulder width stance as a military press, though, but i guess it isn’t, strictly speaking.

This bruise ^^^ is from not getting my arm out of the way when I was shrugging off the plate lol
I didn’t even notice it until yesterday.

Heh, nice. I dropped a barbell on my foot today. Fortunately it was only an EZ bar with 5kg on it but still. Never fun when you do that.

Basically the one I am trying to do is the one I’ve seen in the Rippetoe vids I’ve found
Here’s one
