Covid in Australia

Too far. What sort of despicable animal males this decision:

Bro… it’s for pUbLiC hEaLtH!

There is no rationale when you go this far

I have no idea on the context, or whether its even covid related. Excessive force by Aussie cops. Australian police at ā€œworkā€ (bitchute.com)

Number ONE public enemy!

I mean… It is Sky News, but the ridiculous ā€œcatch it and die narrativeā€ is omnipresent on here too.

On one level I think Karam is a dick. On another level I admire his tenacity to give the authorities the finger.

Shifting the goalposts

Out of curiosity @Beyond_Beyond, were you allowed to travel prior to domestic/international border closures?

Could you go interstate, overseas?

Is the record lifelong or is it subject to be expunged after a certain date?

Yep. Tyrants be moving those goalposts.

90% of the ENTIRE population isn’t a feasible goalpost. Literally zero countries in the world have reached this quota.

We have around 11% of the population not wanting to get jabbed… So how do you expect to hit 90%?

We might hit 80% of the entire population though. We look to be making 12-15 y/Olds elligable soon

Flawed notion of the modelling within the article linked above is it assumes EVERYONE will catch covid within the next year. Vaccines are 60-70% effective at preventing infection… Reduce the chance of death by 95%, hospitalisation by 90-95%

Look at the USA, Sweden etc. Take their death rate from 2021 (post vaccination) and compare it on a per capita basis relative to Aus… We would not… Reach… 25,000… Deaths

I could travel both overseas or interstate. Where I potentially could run into trouble would be getting a visa for certain countries due to my criminal record. As you know its relatively low level stuff, but who knows how strictly they apply the rules.

Are you getting any rain, today in your neck of the woods?

It’s currently raining and flooding throughout the entire southern hemisphere lol. I haven’t seen a fucking bigass flood that happened just a couple of days ago in over 10 years. Luckily I’m still working from home at the moment.

We only got big storms at the start of the year. You guys in Asia get the floods worse, especially with monsoon season.

Yeah, but at least they’re not as bad as the ones in China at the moment. Hopefully it doesn’t get to that level.

That article seemed to be talking about the trigger ending lockdowns. Are you guys seriously locked in your homes until you reach 70-80% vaccination and the Researchers are recommending 90%?

Also is that first shot or both?

Its not only lots of rain its also more mountainous , so they get hit directly and also from run off, mudslides. That shits scary.

Yes and yes

Both shots

But this only accounts for the population aged 16+

70% = 56% 80% = 66%

Though this one article is suggesting 90% of the ENTIRE adult population, which will never happen.

There are plenty of Australians who are happy to stay at home indefinately, some actually want international borders to stay shut forever as to maintain covid zero. The fear, hysteria etc is well out of proportion to the risk at hand.

Parents freaking out over the prospect of their 10 y/old catching covid. It’s materialistic instinct, but going by the data the fear is totally irrational, mediated through a politicised, biased and hysterical narrative from media outlets and politicians alike

The other day I saw an article ā€œkids are routinely collapsing from covidā€ā€¦ No they aren’t, the hospitalisation rate for kids is below 1% within the US.

So many straw man arguments ā€œbut what of the long term effects?ā€

Me

ā€œYou’re vaccinated… How does our economy uphold if we don’t open up? What of the risks associated with kids being shut off from social interaction for years on endā€.

We already have studies detailing the deleterious neurodevelopmental outcomes in children pertaining to pandemic mediated isolation. Studies of which state premier’s are ignoring.

Our cultural paradigm used to be associated with a larrakin, anti authoritarian attitude; and to most foreigners Australia probably still is represented via this image

The truth is… Australia now consists of an extremely subservient population that revels in having the government solve problems for them. We love authority, we love being told what to do and youth in particular appears to back autocratic leadership (China, socialism, Marxism and occasionally ring wing authoritarianism).

Here’s the thing about authoritarianism… Autocratic rule is great so long as the agenda pushed by the government suits your narrative. The second they change course, the proverbial boot of the government is now clamped down on your neck.

There has been a shift in mentality amongst some Australians over the past couple of months. There have been numerous protests, of which have been subject to police violence, dismantlement and subsequent prosecution for attendees identified (including Australians dobbing in their neighbors and the likes)

I’m HOPING come the end of the year a large enough majority voices disapproval with the covid zero strategy. We have dragged our feet for so long fighting for zero… It doesn’t work, it’s a stupid strategy.

I don’t think we will do as well in terms of opening up relative to Iceland and Norway. I think we will end up in between say… Iceland and the UK

our contact tracing, hotel quarantine standards relative to the rest of the developed world is pretty shit. Hell, we haven’t even started using rapid antigen testing yet…

I don’t like the federal premier in power, I think he’s one of the most authoritarian presidents we’ve had, particularly concerning attempted dismantlement of political opposition, mass surveillance bills and the likes. BUT, I think he’s a hell of a lot better than Anthony Albanese. Albanese criticises Morrison over opening up Aus… But what plan does he have

His plan to open international borders relies on domestic production of mRNA vaccines… This won’t happen until at least 2023. He was screaming in parliament (actually shouting and screaming) over the senseless death that would be associated with opening up.

If not at 80%… When? If you stake the precedent for opening up so high that it’s unattainable, you’re never going to open up.

I’m not a liberal/labour guy, I vote for neither. I hate the liberal stance on climate change, criminal justice reform amongst many other things. Labour isn’t much better, both cater towards a misguided, ineffective ā€œtough on crimeā€ stance. Not just towards major crimes like arson, homicide etc… But minor, inconsequential bullshit like driving 2mph over the speed limit.

I can’t STAND the narrative of political fear mongering labour in particular has chosen to cater to over this issue. Would it have been any different had all states been run by liberal PM’s… Probably not. As a matter of fact, we would have probably seen labour rally for opening up.

Instilling fear within the population to acquire votes, political support and more power to enroach upon human rights

That’s the Australian way!

The always entertaining Aussie Cossack!

Just read this article. There is no way this isn’t propaganda bullshit.

Some of my favourite quotes in no particular order:

ā€œFlorida decided to let it rip and life largely returned to normal. Now, the state is in the midst of a deadly crisis.ā€

ā€œThose states where vaccination rates remain low, such as Florida and Texas, are seeing especially explosive rates of infection.ā€

This is hilarious because Texas and Florida are nowhere near the bottom of the list in terms of vaccination rates by states.

ā€œIt’s also fair to say that the pushback from the Republican leader was political in nature, with pundits arguing his presidential aspirations and close ties to Donald Trump have shaped much of his response to the covid crisis.ā€

Heres another great article:

Literally titled ā€œGod help usā€

Like what in the actual fuck.

ā€œAustralians could be wearing masks indoors for years according to one of the nation’s chief medical officers and she has warned it’s a case of ā€œGod help usā€ if a new Covid-19 variant emerges.ā€

Years are you fucking kidding me.

And boy are we shocked when we arrive.

It is… But that’s kind of what I’ve been specifying earlier. Media outlets here have turned into propaganda outlets, designed to instill fear and compliance within the general populace.

Then premier’s swoop in with martial law, millitary patrols ā€œI’m saving you guys!ā€, Omnibus bill, permenant pandemic legislature etc

New bill designed to dismantle minor parties has bipartisan labour/liberal support. Membership requirement within minor parties will be tripled… AND any party that uses a word contained within the main two party federally preferred parties will no longer be able to run without permission.

Profoundly anti-democratic move. Coincidentally the bill happened to be introduced when a prior PM of QLD, numerous liberal politicians deflected to ā€œthe liberal democraticā€ party. A right wing libertarian party.

In my opinion one of the few parties in Aus that actually seem to care about upholding human rights, promoting individualism… Sure, there are some ulterior motives (very good for large cooperations), but as is the case with all politics…

And now… They might not be able to run, for the first time in over three decades

And down the path to totalitarianism we go… Albeit under a quasi democratic framework wherein you can vote for two main parties, both catering towards autocratic leadership, punitive, red tape laws and government overreach needlessly constantly infiltrating the day to day lives of the average Australian.

I hated it a couple years back… But at least back then the majority of it was behind the scenes. Now it’s so in your face it’s literally impossible to miss, and the public is still highly supportive of it all.

Though they are well below our ā€œ70% of the adult populationā€ quota to open up

Around 55-65%, Doherty modelling is indicative of a HUGE differentiation between 60-70%, far more stark relative to the difference between 70-80%
