I seriously disagree with his spin when he ‘described violent extremists as victims of “political, economic and social forces”’.

If I lived in the middle of the fucking sandbox, with no oppurtunities, and all the women dressed up like ninja’s I’d probably strap a fucking bomb to my chest too.
Ditto! maybe it’s just my syrian half, but we never get to see some of the most beautiful women in the world - sad sad thing . . .
I don’t see people that strap bombs to their chests as victims. I don’t think you guys do either though. That’s just where I was going with that thought.

Yes, like or not, agree with it or not, want it or not, Jihad is a tenet of Islam - it has been a fundamental component of Islam since the 7th century - it is how Islam spread over the world - convert(become muslim), submit (become dhimmi) or die (become infidel).
the problem it that he called it LEGITIMATE - adding the gravitas and recognition of our government that JIHAD is worthy of consideration and respect by a Western nation - the same nation that Jihad seeks to conquer or destroy.
So far that Jihad is seen as a battle of a spiritual nature- did you read the article?
I’ll be sure to remind the millions killed by Islam of that very salient fact . . . .
Well, you shouldn’t call them Jihadists. That makes perfect sense, Jihad IS a spiritual thing for many Muslims. Half of you still think lopping the end of a boys penis off is your God given right, so you’re in no place to judge.
If they attack your country, they are TERRORISTS, very simple.

Like I said it seems Obama asks one question to himself before making a decision…
“What is going to really piss off the majority of America”…then they go with that decision.
I’m convinced this is the tactical question asked for every single policy thrown out there. I do not see how ANYONE can defend this administration at all.
Agreed!!
I agree too. And when the fuck will they fix that oil leakage? Is there a thread so I can complain about that too?

According to the Obama Administration the Leak was all Bush’s fault.

Islam is at war with America.
Really dude? Really? Like, all of Islam? All of it? Even the part that doesn’t like the other part? They’re at war with us? The ones we’re training and fighting alongside? Whose nations we’re rebuilding?
How about the ones in Indonesia, and Malaysia? Are they all at war with us?

Let the dead bury the dead. What should America say to the billion Muslims still alive?

IrishSteel, Jihad has absolutely nothing to do with America specifically. It refers to the struggle against oppressors, which in this case, happens to be America. You say that Jihad shouldn’t be respected by a Western nation. Well, your country would not have existed if a set of people had not violently rebelled against the oppressive rule they were subjected to. I am sure you consider the American Revolution legitimate, then why is the Islamic equivalent, Jihad, not worthy of equal respect?
Too much confusion so heres an explanation of jihad:
The word Jihad does not mean “Holy War”. Jihad means effort or endeavors against manâ??s own self. Jihad is to work hard to do right things. Islam ask his followers to recognize their duty towards themselves, and that duty is Jihad, striving for good against evil, beginning with the conquest of a manâ??s own lusts
you should never ask this question. The jews can raise a nation of soldiers, the Moslems can raise an army of millions. The Christians never want to be left out of a good religious war. after all, everyone should know that Jesus is the best god. The Christians in the US have the military advantage because they have congress and an occasional president (like Bush) who are convinced that our god is tougher and “righter” and we like to kick ass to prove it. the Crusades were not so long ago…history repeating itself. fighting over rocks and dirt and whose “book” is more right that somebody else’s.
If muslims showed a mere fraction of the energy for rooting out Jihadists–and their vile clerics and mosques–in Islamic nations as they do when offended by us, we might actually get somewhere. If they spent even a fraction of that energy decrying the treatment of religious minorities in their midst…Or, raged over the amount of dollars and support that pour out of their mosques and communities to Jihadists/Islamic seperatists/Sharia loons in Africa, Asia, etc…Well, then I might give a crap if their feelings get hurt. Hey, they’re (the good guys) this supposed huge (VAST!) majority. Great, keep them in their own countries so they can put down that itty-bitty, teensy-weensy ‘extremist’ minority, for good. Maybe we wouldn’t have listen to them bitch about infidels in their lands.
Islam spread by holy war and it is a great deed for moslems to fight and die for their god.
To pretend otherwise is to betray ignorance or dissimulation.
The moslem world collectively no longer pose much of a threat however; angry and willing to die as they are, it is our own foolish policies that are driving us into the ground.

So the church has to power to INFLUENCE, insofar has the goals are POLITICAL, and groups should be defined by their goals and not what they CLAIM, then they should be delt with POLITICALLY - not RELIGIOUSLY, because no, we don’t go to war under a CHRISTIAN banner last I checked.
