No matter how many ways it’s packaged, governments have no money. “State” oil leases are still financed by tax payer funding and ultimately one person’s money still ends up in somebody’s pocket.

This.

Plus, I’ll never understand the socialist mentality of wanting to be the government’s pet. That’s all stuff like this is, you’re being provided for by the government. Like their little puppy dog.

From the article:
I?m not talking about redistribution here, I?m talking about paying dividends to equity owners in good old capitalist fashion.
This level of either delusion or deception is truly an achievement.

Nope it is about property and paying the owners their share, in this case it happens to be common property.

I will admit that this idea seems a bit far fetched and that good old fashioned state ovnership over production is easier. If the state owned productive companies then more of the states revenue would come from profits accumaleted from said companies, and thus paying off national debts, improving public services and perhaps lowering some taxes would be possible. An example of this would be my country where the state owns the oil and from that oil we have gotten so much profits that unlike most countrys we have a surplus.

Then again I am so far left that a regular liberal from your country would look like a conservative hardliner in comparison
