For most of our politicians you may only get a crack at a few real emergencies in your career. Even though we hang onto them a lot no guarantees.
If you don’t turn in that winning lottery ticket you’ll live the rest of your life with just two houses instead of 6 thinking about how at one point you could have had it all…
But in all seriousness it would completely kick ass to see someone high up do what he did.
Some of the merits of having a thousand year old country, I suppose. One of the few.

Me either. I think it’s a recent development, and I think it correlates with the 24/7 news cycle very well. Not necessarily caused by it, however. Even in the 90s we still had some civility and some real leaders.

To be clear, the sneering was only hypothetical sneering that existed in a scenario that I contrived in my head. I’ve been on no recent accidents requiring pain medication, and received no such scorn from anyone I know.

I prefer my politicians to have avoided service. That way they can’t get captured. Who respects someone who has been captured?!

Fair points. Another thing to consider is how fast they got to the the point that things are opening up again in Wuhan, if the number of deaths really was significantly higher then you would expect to have significantly more infections as well which would result in a longer period before the infection rate dropped to where it is now.
I don’t trust China of course, but even if the number of deaths is actually double what they claim, would cutting the number in half really do anything to save face? To me it doesn’t seem so.
I was trying to phrase it in a way that if you think Bill Gates is lying about China then you would have to be some sort of wacko conspiracy theorist, but instead people mistook me for the conspiracy theorist. While there are various accusations against Bill Gates, being in a league with the Chinese is one I have not heard yet.
