Go watch some chimp videos. They are far crueler than any humans I know. They absolutely kill for pleasure.
My dogs also do it. Although, mine have a record of leaving animals half alive. So, that might be maiming for pleasure.
How do you know animals other than humans have the capacity for pleasure?
How do you know humans, other than yourself, have the capacity for pleasure?
I don’t but at least you can tell me what is or is not pleasurable to you?
No matter how much I ask, Maxwell does not do anything but look at me with his goofy eyes and wagging tongue.
Funny, my dogs use very clear body language. They also don’t know how to lie or deceive. In my experience animal language in communicating emotions like pleasure is far more reliable that what people tell me.
LOL! “Very clear body language.”
Are you sure you’re not just anthropomorphizing your dog?
For that to be true, you’d first have to show pleasure is a human trait and you haven’t.
And no, they do things like tell me when they are guilty of something bad even when I don’t know what they’ve done. We walked into my house the other day and our younger dog greeted us with a guilty look. My wife immediately said “what have you done?” out loud. We went looking and found the dog bed shredded in the hallway.
In all honesty if you don’t think animals experience things like pleasure, you are an idiot. They have the same physiological symptoms of pleasure and express it in very similar ways. What logical reason do you have for thinking they don’t?
Guilty look picture attached for reference.
