the 20 year old peaced the scene, ran away, cops came, and because the guy was alright and didnt want to spend the time pressing charges, the cops didn’t even care to try and identify the assailant, even when i said, I could easily tell them who he was by looking in the local high school yearbook. If the victim doesn’t want to go through the process of having the suspect charged, what do you expect? He’s not going to go to court to testify. Without that evidence, Crown Counsel can’t even prosecute the guy for assault. Cooperative witnesses are required to press charges, the victim being the most important. That has nothing to do with the police, that’s just satisfying the burden of proof in court.
If you really believe that “fuck the police” bullshit, check out the the Montreal Police Strike from October 17, 1969. That’s what happens when you don’t have police.
