We turned Dani’s cheesecake cookies into more of a brownie and made Chris’s cheese and chicken fingers. Amazing! My daughter is currently icing the brownie, but my son is scarfing the chicken fingers down as we speak. That’s a big win, because he’s not a big carnivore anyway. This was easy and fun. Please keep these coming, Shugarts!
I almost bought a can of chicken Friday to try these. Now, I’m going to have to pick one up.
It was really surprisingly good!
Very cool! Your chicken-cheese sticks look more uniform than mine. I bought a few more cans this weekend so I can try it out again.
My daughter did those. She took forming them seriously!
Peanut Butter Cup Buckwheat
I was reminded in another thread about hot buckwheat cereal, or cream of buckwheat. Buckwheat isn’t wheat; it’s actually a fruit seed, sometimes called a pseudo-grain. Really healthy stuff, highly satiating (more so than even oatmeal), and even contains chiro-inositol which helps with glucose metabolism and cell signaling. Best of all, you can make it the microwave.
Here’s what it looks like:
Tastes pretty good all on its own, better than the cream of wheat you probably had as a kid. And even though it contains all 8 essential amino acids, it’s not exactly a protein source. So I add:
• 1 Scoop Metabolic Drive, chocolate, per serving of buckwheat
• 1 Tablespoon PB2 (powdered, defatted peanut butter)
• A few plain nuts, almonds or walnuts
• Just enough almond milk so you can stir everything together
And you get this:
Here’s where you can pick some up:
Last time I bought it at the health food store, it came in a bag. Same brand though: Ponoco.
Shoulda said peanut-butter-cup-ISH.
Peanut butter cups will probably be my “the asteroid will hit us in 2 weeks” food. Just gonna sit around, pray, have sex, pet all the dogs, and eat peanut butter cups. It’s the “perfect” fat/sugar/salt food.
Couldn’t find the original article (sorry @Dani_Shugart didn’t bookmark it).
But I made the protein oatmeal cookies a bit differently
Subbed out the applesauce and banana for a heaping cup of canned pumpkin and subbed in almond extract instead of vanilla. Turned out amazing:
Maybe not strictly Velocity Diet approved but it’s all healthy ingredients.
I’m so excited to see this! That’s basically how I make cookies — winging it. And I’m glad they turned out amazing!
Should we start a thread of nothing but Metabolic Drive shake and dessert recipes? I may need to see what y’all are doing so that I can steal it.
I made this protein cakey thing with a protein cream cheese frosting this morning. It was kind of improvised. The frosting is actually fat free because somehow Chris found fat free cream cheese at the store.
Still delicious, but probably not as good as your cookies. ![]()
Metabolic Drive Ice Cream
Approved by Pepper Bear (it’s a pepper shaker). Adorable, right?
This is something I made during the initial creation of the Velocity Diet. Back then there were no solid meals at all, except for once per week. People were feeling full and satiated on the high-protein diet, but missed actually using utensils and eating instead of drinking. So we made protein “pudding” just by using a tiny amount of water in the shakes. One day I froze my pudding by accident and this recipe was born.
Ingredients
• 1 to 2 scoops of Metabolic Drive (No, this doesn’t work well with a cheap whey-only protein powder.)
• Liquid: water, milk, almond milk, etc.
• Frozen berries
Directions
-
Add your Metabolic Drive to a bowl.
-
Now slowly add a tiny amount of liquid, less than you think you need, and stir. You should get a thick paste or pudding. Add more liquid if needed, but don’t overdo it or you’ll get an icy ice cream.
-
Add berries. I used a mixed variety here.
-
Freeze for 30-60 minutes. If you over-freeze it or want to make several servings in advance, just take it out of the freezer 10-15 minutes before eating. It softens up quickly.
Options
Works great with chocolate Metabolic Drive, nuts, dark chocolate chips, or banana slices. (Or all of them.)
Made the sweet potato protein brownies again. Took them out a few minutes early for a gooey-er texture. Goo is good.
Made the chicken cheese sticks today. I baked the chicken breast and colby jack cheese.
Everybody liked them! Thanks again for another great recipe.
Now, I am thinking about thise sweet potato brownies.
Those look great!
Both of you crushed it on the chicken sticks! Those look awesome
Smooshed roasted baby potatoes
I put these here because Chris guilted me into buying avocado and olive oil with all these recipes ![]()
Ha! Funny, I was just thinking about smooshed baby potatoes. Do you boil them first, smoosh them, and then bake them? I’ve also been wanting to try my hand at latkes again.
Yes. Boil until tender then smoosh and bake. The dude I saw make them online left the skins on and so I did. Next time I will peel them after I boil them.
