It can swing both ways with a slight favor to the old guard; they have the finances, the military and the police force on their side.

I’d like to see a rational, humanist approach to technological advances that benefit mankind, instead of a smal subset of people. That is cheap intellectually opportunistic crackpottery Ephrem and far beneath your powers.

No Tiribulus, it’s a fairly accurate observation based on current affairs.

Do you believe that the onslaught of tornadoes you are having is a punishment from god too?

As I have said. I believe that nothing, not one single sub atomic particle in all the vast cosmos dare twitch in independence from His infallible immutable decree. Not even your brain Ephrem. That includes all the weather on all the planets in all the universe. We are not however privy to His every motivation, every time, beyond it’s being for His own glory as He sees fit. Now what, pray tell, do tornadoes have to do with anything we’ve been talking about? Dare I ask my fine flowery friend here folks.

It’s just the weather, there’s no “cheap intellectually opportunistic crackpottery” going on.

My charge of “cheap intellectually opportunistic crackpottery” was in regard to technology somehow driving the moral direction of the world. My answer to your tornado question then is, I don’t know for sure, but doubt it is the direct judgement of God.

Cheap, renewable energy isn’t too far off in the future. Nanotechnology might/will cause a revolution in combatting disease. Quantum-computing will no doubt be a reality in 20 years, and most likely will give rise to the first AI.

The internet and other ways for people to connect and share information with eachother will continue to grow, get faster and while it gets harder for common [read stupid] people to stay anonimous on the web, it will also become harder and harder for corporations and governments to keep secrets hidden from the public [Wikileaks].

This will cause a shift of power from the established elite towards the common man, and surely you’ll understand that this shift will not be an easy one.

Altough our, us in the western world, situation is not as dire as it has been for those in the middle-east, and altough those who do protest are being ridiculed by those who lack understanding of their own predicament [as in, they believe the lie], I won’t be surprised that more countries in the west are going to experience turmoil, like Greece, because we’re tired of being screwed over by business and politics.

While this has nothing to do with the topic of this thread, the way the USA is currently trying to curtail women’s rights on state-level is merely another indication of how the elite is trying to corral the people through legislation.

By targetting women they not only disarm them but also give men the upperhand in controling 50% of the population. And since most men can’t be trusted with a little power it’ll mean progress is set back by decades.

Just look at what’s happening in technology. Look at what’s happening in the world aided by mobile phones and the internet. Look at the shift in politics from liberal to conservative, not just in your country but also in mine. Look at the huge divide between the rich and the dwindling number of middle-class people who are being milked for every penny they got, aided by politics.

Just look at it, and tell me what else I can conclude from all of that.
ephrem wrote:<<< Just look at it, and tell me what else I can conclude from all of that.
I’ve looked at this post several times Ephrem and I simply am at a loss for a response.

You lead an insular existence T, and, like all of us, live in your own reality where all of this either does not exist, or is actually irrelevant.

Only time will tell.

Tribulus are you familiar with the Christian Apologist Abdu Murray?

He’s also located in Detroit.

He is a close friend of our senior pastor and preached Easter service at our church last year(tremendous) which he is a sort of de facto member of though he has his own. He was also at our pastor’s baby dedication a couple weeks ago. He is a former Muslim apologist and family member of the folks who run the biggest mosque in the country which is on Ford rd. about 10 minutes from where I’m typing this. From what I’ve seen? Rock solid believer who gave up absolutely everything to become one.

I recently watched him in a debate he was involved in at a Texas University.

He’s a good speaker, I was impressed.

He had influence, prestige, power and position in his world. Not to mention mountains of money. His family owns this mosque (or runs it, or both?). They utterly disowned him and the Shiites will kill him for sure if they get a chance. He didn’t say some rinky dink prayer and call himself a “Christian”. He sacrificed EVERYTHING when he received the Lord and he lives like it. He would be aghast at most of the claims on Christ made in these forums.

Nah.

His whole shtick is preaching the gospel to non-Christians and he specifically lists skeptics/atheists.

So soon?

You are not far enough into that empire collapsing thing to become delusional.

Pace yourself, or you run out of options in a few years.

Finally a voice of reason:

Before getting a prescription for Viagra or other erectile dysfunction drugs, men would have to see a sex therapist, receive a cardiac stress test and get a notarized affidavit signed by a sexual partner affirming impotency, if state Sen. Nina Turner has her way.
