Computer Technical Help

I have a laptop in which the speakers are terrible, but I have a stereo that owns. Well, at least for now. Now on to my questions:

I need some way to connect my laptop to my stereo. The only thing that will work is to get AV cables. The problem is though my laptop doesn’t have any AV out ports. All I am stuck with is two connections for headphones, 2 USB ports, and an Expansion Port. Are there any options, such as converters?

P.S. I just remembered I had an Expansion Port as I was typing this, but still I don’t know if that will help.

Thanks for anyone who helps.

2 connections for headphones? Sure one isn’t for a microphone?

Get a lead with an 1/8" Stereo plug on one end and shove it in the headphone slot. At the other end get whatever you need to plug it into your main Stereo box.

Job done.

[edit] Check your local electronics dealer - they’ll have the right lead for you.

yup hit up a radioshack grab a set up cables that are 1/8 headphone and left and right audio (red, white) on the other. easy to come by. this way you can also get a external harddrive and store all your stolen thousands of mp3s on there and not clog up your computer and play them off your external hard drive through your bumpin stereo!

They work VERY well. I have my pc hooked up to 2 stereos this way. Works perfectly.

Remember with laptops you can get EM bleed and hard drive bleed into your stereo if you connect with the typical laptop sound card with a RCA Y adapter. Specially if you love to bug the neighbors. If you don’t care about it ignore this post.

If this happens get your self a nice external USB sound card with Direct Sound Processing capabilities. Then run a digital line to your stereo or a RCA Y adapter. These sound cards are made to make you cream your pants for there sound quality.

Thanks for the answers.

And yeah, I do have two headphones jacks. Right next to them is the microphone jack.
