Different stuff each time. It’s one of those things where I’m letting myself go along with the “it’s just small assistance stuff, the details don’t matter”-idea. The program I’m following literally just says: “Before each workout: Stretch, then Abs for 100 total reps.”
On Monday, it was a superset of crunches 2x30 and bench v-ups 2x20. Yesterday was a cycle of hanging knee raises, knee-to-elbow crunches, more hanging knee raises, light side bends, more hanging knee raises.
Sometimes it’s one set each of all different movements. Once in a while I’ll just do one exercise like decline crunches 4-5x15-25. One time I did plain boring crunches in what was basically one long, dumb, burn-y rest-pause set.
Had a dream last night that I was interviewing every member of Motorhead… but I woke up before I had a chance to talk to Lemmy. Apparently, even my unconscious mind couldn’t handle the awesomeness. Literally woke up feeling disappointed.
Friday’s morning weight: 209.9
Thursday’s food:
9:00 - 1 scoop Metabolic Drive; handful of almonds (whole, because fuck all y’all); 3 eggs in 2Tbsp coconut oil, handful of broccoli, 1 slice cheddar; orange
6:00 - Ordered Chinese. Pint of hot and sour soup; “chicken in garlic sauce” - sliced chicken (thigh? face? something), slivered carrots and bell peppers, onions, brown sauce that was good but did not taste like garlic; white rice
I never really thought about it and haven’t been interested enough to check, but I don’t recall ever passing a whole, intact almond. I like to think I’d notice that sort of thing.
Why do I suddenly feel like this thread has taken a turn. Hey so, uh, how 'bout them recent sporting events? Great match, right? Yeah?
Am still lifting stuff. And still eating stuff. Holidays are a nutritional mulligan, as we all know. Will toss up a proper update or two before the contest begins in earnest.
In the meantime, I hope Xmas was a good time for everyone. Bourbon, beef, and books came my way. Thank you, Santa. First married Christmas, too, so that was cute.
Um, but there might’ve also been a 5-pound tin of Royal Dansk cookies that are already significantly lighter. How they make such plain sugar cookies so damn addicting, I’ll never understand.
Time got away from me, but I’m getting back on track.
209.4 this morning, after a New Year’s Eve of afternoon movie with popcorn and Reece’s Pieces (Shape of Water. Go see it.) and a sushi dinner. So, accidental bloat/sodium load.
Fun fact: You might see a few extra-trimmed splotches in the fuzz. When I went for that stress echo the other week, the nurse hit me with a no-guard buzzer where she wanted to attach the electrodes. I saw her coming at me with it, and I was like “Eh, it’ll grow back in time for the before pics. No worries. Probably won’t even notice.” I was mistaken. C’est la vie.
Since it’s cold as balls here lately and I don’t generally feel like making the arctic trek a few blocks to the gym, I decided to play around with 2-a-days, figuring shorter sessions each time would be more tolerable and, hopefully, more beneficial. The only trick is going to be actually getting that first session in at the asscrack of dawn, around 6:00am during the week.
So I sliced the Waterbury Method in half. Very easy to figure out since it’s one big lift for 10x3 followed by a few supersets of 4x6. The first workout was about 20ish minutes, start to finish. The second wasn’t too much more. Just began this week, will run it for the rest of the month.
That’s too funny. He’s actually gotten a lot more into the bodybuilding scene over the years, co-hosting/MC’ing some shows and stuff. So I’d be surprised if he’s still hiding behind, um, I mean crediting just bodyweight stuff nowadays.
Went to Florida for a few days to visit my parents. It wasn’t as warm as I hoped, but still, got into the 50’s every day. Came home to below-zero temperatures (burst a pipe two days after getting back). It’s now climbed up into the mid-30’s two days after it was below zero.
