Believe it or not, that came nearly entirely off the top of my head. I did have to look up the hometown of Derek Shaw, OU’s DS. It took me however long to type that up, plus a couple of minutes for Shaw. I am a big OU fan.

But if it makes you feel important, feel free to believe that I spent a couple of hours on it.

Ditto on HUGE OU fan. I know the height, weight, hometown and high school of every guy on the team, and can name off all 22 starters for the past 8 years, no sweat.

Gotta be passionate about something, right?

My favorite Sooners of the Stoops era are Bubba Burcham, Scott Kempenich, Corey Heinecke, and Paul Thompson.

Outside of PT, even most OU fans have never even heard of the other three!

I’ve got a soft spot for walk-ons or nobodies who came up huge when their names were called, and OU would not have won the 2000 National Title w/o those three.

LOL, Bubba was in a movie! Stephen 'Bubba' Burcham - IMDb

Bubba from Mustang, Kempenich from Wagoner, Corey from Edmond, and PT, ironically from Leander, TX (Austin area).

A high school friend of mine, her cousin is Bubba Burcham, I had class with Kempenich (one large man) and Heinecke (really nice guy), and a girl I used to work with went to high school with PT (said he was a really nice guy, very level-headed and down to earth).

Mark Bradley was a walk-on also, because his dad, Danny Bradley, played QB at OU, so he wanted to play where his dad played. Good for him, and great for OU.

That’s awesome Bubba was in a movie, he’s a star haha.

I was surprised at the size of most of the OU players I met in person when I was a student. I was expecting these guys that were the size of a house, but they really weren’t.

JR Conrad came to speak to our O-Line when I was in high school, and that guy blocked out the sun. I’ve met, among others, Wes Sims, Davin Joseph, Vince Carter, Tommie Harris, and Dvoracek in person, and they really weren’t as big as I thought they’d be. Certainly not small, but not GINORMOUS either. Seemed like they added an inch and 15 pounds on the printed roster.

But one day, I was walking into Dale Hall, I nearly got run over in the doorway by Jamaal Brown.

Good gosh, it seemed like I came up to his chest! One of the only times in my life that I felt puny. That guy is every single inch and then some of his 6’6" listed height!

I wish I could meet Loadholt in person. Yikes!

My buddy actually met big Phil in person, and from what my friend was saying, he’s HUGE. My buddy is 6 foot, about 260, and he said he shook Phil’s hand and his hand felt like a kid’s hand inside his, it was that big. He said when Phil shook his hand, he looked down and couldn’t even see his own hand, Phil had swallowed it with his handshake. And he said he was just a mammoth altogether. Him and DJ Wolfe are buddies, and were hanging out at Buffalo Wild Wings. I saw Duke Robinson at the mall and he is a monster as well.

Yeah, Jammal is a brick. I’ve met him and stood next to him a couple of times, and I don’t think he was 6’6" though. I’m 6’4, but had 2 inches on him easily, and I know I’m not 6’8, but nonetheless, a big guy overall.

But yeah, I agree, a lot of guys aren’t as big as the programs say or their stature make them out to be. Big guys overall, but not ginormous, as you stated.
