Coleman vs Couture

Never said that.

HAHA that clip on Countdown was pretty sweet. One of the guys said it best: when people need help, they call police. When police need help, they call BOPE.

Fighting is easy compared to what Paulo does for a living.

until you see in interview where he talks about himself…the guy is pretty delusional, but who would’ve thought nate’s takedown defense would be so bad? by the end chale just had to grab his legs and he was falling over. i wonder if he had some kind of knee or hip injury or if chael did something nate wasn’t expecting

Well, the first time anyhow, Nate tried to jump guard and sink in a guillotine (which in his defense was a technique which Sonnen had been submitted with before, so I can see why he’d try it), which Chael defended and wound up on top in Nate’s guard.

After that point it just looked like Nate was tired. I also think he was a little too confident in his guard game and wanted to try to pull off a submission against Chael from that position. What he should have done as soon as Chael got out of the guillotine was to kick Chael off, get back to the feet and try to make Sonnen strike with him. Which he did eventually do, but by that time he was too tired to really be effective on his feet.

Let’s also not forget that Sonnen was an olympic team alternate and a very big MW. So, much of his ability to take Nate down was simply due to him being an excellent wrestler with a size and conditioning edge.

agree. Nate fought a terrible fight. I watched this fight at my parents house, so I didn’t DVR it to watch it later. The one thing that sticks out in my mind is how reckless Nate’s attack was. He knew what Sonnen’s game plan was, and his striking attack seemed to invite the TD.

Coleman looks like he was asleep. He looked worse in this fight than he did in last two. He should have looked better. Wonder if he was overtrained? He certainly looked like it.

I thought it was a bad card, but only because Nate and Coleman could have fought a much better fight. Both fights were very disappointing.
