Coffee: What's Your Drink?

I put goat blood in my coffee every morning, really gives it that extra zing.

Just as a tip for all coffee drinkers, the lighter the roast the more the caffeine. Roasting lowers the caffeine content of the beans. So if you drink it for the jolt, get a lighter roast not the stronger tasting darker stuff.[/quote]

I’m glad someone mentioned this, since A LOT of people seem to be terribly misinformed/confused. My favorite coffee is the Ethiopian Yirga Chaffe from whole foods, a light roast with some incredible flavor.

We get some good coffee in Africa, I like stuff from Kenya myself - though I’m not a huge coffee person.

I life to pick up a bag of Kona beans, grind up enough for a few weeks, and then add a little french vanilla non-dairy creamer to it (cinnamon also makes a great addition). My GF hated coffee until she started staying over and being treated to my wonderful breakfasts -lol.

That may be so, but the difference really is quite small.

The method of grinding and brewing has a much larger impact on the quality of coffee than the specific beans assuming at least decent quality, IMO.

The best coffee I’ve ever had came from a vacuum pot/syphon. I have one, it’s a bit more work but damn the coffee is delicious!!! Quite noticeably better than the same beans from a french press. Plus the thing looks cool when it brews.

I’ll have what debras having! Actually, I’m turning into a tea guy personally…

Double espresso made with Lavazza coffee every morning and most lunch times.
Helps to keep me awake in a quiet office most of the day.

I go for the Jamaican Blue Mountain, Kona,or the Papua New Guinea.

Don’t know much about the Kona / Papua New Guinea stuff, but isn’t the Jamaican Blue cripplingly expensive?

Yes, It is very pricey, but some deals are avail. online. The blends are cheaper.

Local hippy store Mexican roast/blend coffee. Tastes pretty damn good straight. Fucking people drinking their coffee like if its chocolate milk ruin the natural taste and aroma of a good coffee bean.

OMG i need one where did you get yours? Actually…can I come over and try yours, vacuum pot that is

I make a few cups in my french press every morning. The best way to drink it, in my opinion, is cold-brewed, but it takes forever (up to 24 hours, I think). But, once it is brewed, you can keep a big carafe of super-concentrated, non-bitter coffee in your fridge and take a shot or two whenever you need it. Or dilute a shot with some water to have a regular cup of coffee.

I LOVE COFFEE! I go for local coffee here in KC, MO. Broadway is my fav and The Roasterie is great too. I like strong dark coffee, plain. Or of course Americano’s are yummmm. Did you know that coffee is the number one source of antioxidants in the American diet? How sad is that?! And you know that its a accompanied by sugar and cream!

Lavazza coffee is great. But if it has to be instant stuff, there’s a brand in the UK called Rocket Fuel thats packed full of guarana as well. Just the ticket before a workout. You guys have it in the US as well?

Mine is the bodum santos. I couldn’t get it in Canada and I had a helluva time trying to find someone willing to ship it here ( I don’t know why!)

There are some really neat but sometimes pricey European ones around on e-bay.

But it is AWESOME. And look how cool it looks. You should see it brew!

Anyone here from NYC, I highly recommend Cafe Grumpy on 20th and 7th ave. That place makes superb coffee.

It may not be around anymore, but back when I was going to NYU and living in the village, we used to hit up a place called “Java the Hut” -lol.

My morning coffee is pretty simple. 16 oz choc-full-of-nuts french roast coffee + 1 scoop chocolate whey protein powder + some Equal = protein mocha. I never drink coffee after noon or it’ll keep me up at night.

Debra, that vaccuum pot looks pretty cool. I’d never heard of that method of brewing until now. How is it to clean? I used to do a french press but it’s just not as quick in the morning to clean up as our small drip coffee machine is. With two small kids, I’m always interested in speed.

Deb, that thing reminds me of organic chem lab! Too cool, I want one!!! I am also interested in clean up, looks like a bitch to clean.

My fav java is starbucks sumatra, ground fresh drip brewed with 2 splenda and some half and half (regular or simply smart depending on my projected fat content for the day) in my monster HD mug.

If I am on the go, I will add 1 scoop of chocolate whey like ds.

It came with a long thin brush that makes it surprisingly easy. I dump out the grinds, and give it a quick sweep in the bowl and in the narrow tube and rinse, sometimes with soap but not every time. It is a bit more bother than french press and takes longer though so most days I just use that. I’ve never put it in the dishwasher.

I find the french press easier and faster than drip though.

Extra-Large Tim Hortons Black…w/ sugar-free vanilla syrup added in.
followed by numerous caffinated beverages through the day…

I am what you would call an addict

My favorite coffee is Newhall Coffee French Roast. The stuff is awesome.

I usually brew it in a drip machine, but if I just want one cup I use a french press.
