Clinton Campaign, DNC Funded Russia Dossier?!

Something to keep in mind that gets lost in these discussions. The Russians wish to see dissent and disruption, not back candidates.

I do. I’m not fond of foreign hostile nuclear superpowers with a bad habit of murdering its citizens messing around with our election.

What a surprise? You weren’t influenced by ads you didn’t see?

You’re so woefully behind on the times if you don’t understand the significance of FB ads. The pet rock part hilariously shows that as well :stuck_out_tongue:

Most advertising works over a long period of time guys. Basic formula of…
Frequency + consistancy + message = consumer impact
Weather selling mortgage or political crap the t.o.m.a formula applies
Top of mind awarness
Its not his fault or anybodys its a well manufactured ad campaign. Maybe one of the best imo
People dont buy tires, hamburgers, or anything based on marketing. All marketing does is create awarness. The “triggering event” Does the rest… So this argument is correct FB did not make him vote trump no more than a single micky ds spot make us by a burger. However its part of the snynergy of the campaign. In nut shell it helped…by how much we dont know
Also I might ad by nature most people dont give credit to advertising. People like to think they make decisions wholly on own. This carries into most all segments.

So it looks like it’s Mannfort for activities during his time working for Podesta is the first to fall here.

(Unless the source I read this morning is wrong).

Again, this whole investigation appears to be taking down the “wrong” side here so far… How’s this lead to “drumpf is finished” I keep reading about?

The unsealing of the indictment came the same day that Special Counsel Robert Mueller announced that a former Trump campaign aide had pleaded guilty to lying to FBI agents about the timing and detail of his attempts to line up meetings between Russian government officials and the Trump campaign.

The plea by George Papadopoulos marked the first criminal charges that cite interactions between Trump campaign associates and Russian intermediaries during the 2016 presidential campaign.

This speaks to a higher issue in my opinion and that’s this idea that hashtag slacktivism is actually a productive use of our time and energy. I tend to think it’s a cancer of human thought and should be avoided at all costs…

it’s lazy af. Cool, you have an problem with “x” issue but putting a hashtag on some regurgitated talking point ( a la “#metoo”) does fuck all in dealing with anything aside from signaling you’re hip to the scene…It’s a way to show people “hey I belong” … fuck that mess

Thanks. That part was not included in the brief I read this morning.

Since we’re talking about election interference and the likes of Manafort

My more cynical view of that is below. There are times I think this way and times I don’t.

Politics and society in general seem subject to quite a bit of misdirected and unresolved anger these days. There seem to be quite of few angry teens and early 20s out there who have some combination of daddy and mommy issues. Intelligent debate has been replaced with hash tags, window breaking, torch carrying, and general violence. It’s as if the adults have left the room. How else do we get our minds around Charlottesville and Antifa, or what has happened on quite a few college campuses?

The idea that people are changing the world through music (now hash tags) has always, at once, both amused and irritated me. Now, it’s “violence” through words with which some disagree that “justifies” actual physical violence? I certainly don’t want the world led and changed by intellectually (and all around) lazy, but that seems to be where we are. At some point it will get bad enough that the adults (people with families, jobs, goals, and busy lives) will start speaking up. Then again they’re probably too busy to pay much attention.

Then there’s the “victim as status” game. I can’t even get on FB anymore from all the “whoa is me” BS from people with 7 figure incomes and charmed backgrounds.

Papadopoulos lied to the FBI about the timing and nature of the communications, officials said.

This could mean so many things… But either way, he’s ratting like crazy on someone.

oh, yea These spoiled rich turds ain’t never even seen the inside of a jail cell. And betting Trump pardons them ain’t exactly bullet proof. These guys will sing like birds… No reason not to they have no allegiance to Trump now… That’s why they went for these guys first not Jr or Kush… 12 Felony counts is a lot. If they really want to squeeze them they will do a no bond. That’s fastest way to flip a defendant…btw guys innocent until proven guilty

Right. They accept a pardon and they have to admit guilt. This opens them up to prosecution at the state level.

Might have to fact check you here lol. Pretty sure a POTUS pardon rolls down every legal hill we have.

Right except for maybe civil suits. Say if Manafort’s business partner claims that him getting indighted/pardoned ruined their business he could sue.

A concerned citizens group could perhaps try and file a civil suit alleging damages of some kind. If you file it in WV it will probably stick. Their tort system is crooked all day long.

Nope

  1. Federal convictions only

Under the Constitution, only federal criminal convictions, such as those adjudicated in the United States District Courts, may be pardoned by the President. In addition, the President’s pardon power extends to convictions adjudicated in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia and military court-martial proceedings. However, the President cannot pardon a state criminal offense…

Ahhh. Gotcha.

Are these charges applicable at the state level to think that would matter?

So states have laws pertaining to federal elections? Or are you talking about money laundering?

Certainly as it pertains to Manafort and money laundering. NY is the financial hub of the world and surely banks in NY were involved.

Makes sense to me.

I guess a better question would be whether or not anyone has ever received a POTUS pardon and then still got in trouble via the state.
