It’s been a rough year, but here seems like as good a place as any to let my T-Nation family know what’s been up.
As most of you know, the gym, and particularly strongman, have been a huge part of my life for the past 15+ years. Well, so is the safety and well-being of my family, and I am with my father, who is in his 70’s, every single day. It turns out, the latter is more important. When shit hit the fan with covid a year ago, I committed to being as safe from the virus as I possibly can, and I’ve been successful with it, as neither I nor any family members have gotten sick, despite being in Dallas, Tx, where the virus has been a major problem.
Unfortunately, I haven’t been in a gym in almost a year now. I put together a decent home gym, but it’s actually not at my own house, which has made it a bit of an inconvenience, and I was only able to do that much about 6 months after I’d been out of the gym already, and it has been damn hard to commit to regularly working out again.
I’ll post a picture to show where that has led me. Bodyweight is in the low 180’s right now, which is not horrible… I can bounce back from that relatively quickly, I think.
My parents got their first dose of the vaccine yesterday, and I should be getting my own soon. I haven’t decided if I’m going to start going back to the gym after their second dose, or if I’ll go ahead and wait until I’ve had it as well.
I’m 37 years old now, and realize getting back to where I was may not be a reasonable expectation, but I plan to work towards that, and hopefully even more. I’ve always been able to exceed my own expectations for myself, but this will be a real test of that ability.
I doubt I’ll be back on this forum as regularly as I used to be, but at the very least I’ll check in from time to time. And who knows, maybe once I’m making progress again I’ll feel like being more involved in the community.

It’s the ALBQ police.
They pay their officers basically nothing, fired all the ex-military and Anglo officers (and Apache), and hire based on relationship with various political groups. It’s the sorriest police force in NM, and we’ve got some problems.
There’s a reason “Breaking Bad” was set there. It’s lead by politically woke idiots and, under their leadership, has become one of the most dangerous cities (per capita) in the USA.
