It’s just sad. Damn sad. But I wonder what would’ve happened if none of this had happened and he had played in the NFL. I think much of the same stuff. There’s just something not right with the guy.

If he had a decent, upstanding honorable momma, I bet none of this would have happened. He wouldn’t have taken any graft while in college, probably mentioned for Heisman consideration, and drafted high when his time came. Good moms have the ability to make good upstanding young men. Regardless of their immediate growing up conditions.
From all accounts his mother is actually a very level-headed, bright woman. Since we’re discussing a (in)famous young athlete from NE Ohio and their parental influences, take a look at Lebron’s mom…she’s a loose cannon and her son exudes maturity at very young age in a sport that has had more than it’s fair share of thug influences.

Yes, I think nurturing is a big part of the equation, but at some point someone’s intelligence and self-awareness comes into play, and the moves this guy has made are legendarly stupid.
I am not sure where the sympathies are coming from, I don’t think he is a horrible human being and deserves any sort of terrible situation but he seems to place himself in these situation and seems to be influenced more by those around them then by himself.

Agreed. I think people’s sadness is coming from more of a “what he could’ve/can do in the professional league” and not so much about his current emotional state which I don’t think many people care about, more care to how they can beef up their fantasy football team.
A 5 million dollar bond has been set.
Ouch…

It seems that in addition to a million dollar bond, the judge has ordered that a psychological evaluation be done on Clarett.
Probably not a bad idea.
