Anything from Cohiba is awesome, thought I prefer Gran Coronas over Robustos.
The only thing that will make me sad when I move back to the states is that I won’t have access to cubans ![]()

I find Cuban cigars have gone downhill in recent years courtesy of the weather. Plus quality definitely got worse when Castro relinquished command to his brother.
Rocky Patel makes a solid “Cuban” knockoff if you can’t buy them legally.
Gurkha’s are also a really nice cigar - especially the Louis XIII version.
But to each his own. the best part of a stogie is the company.
I have some Cubans my pal got me on his Hols, think they are wasted on me, rather have some weed and a vaporizer anyday.
Cohibas, monte cristos, romeo y jullietas its in a big jumbo box, are these the ones you mean?
Just got back from Cuba. My first humidoor fill. I feel proud, like a new poppa ![]()

It is my belief that you cannot, under any circumstances be in a bad mood whilst smoking a cigar. It’s impossible. Being on vacation in the carribian staring at beutifull topless womon on a beach helps lol.

Very nice!
Don’t get too involved in the cigar smoking hobby, you could end up like me!
(only top drawer are cubans, though)

Seriously, nice choices. Contrary to popular belief, there are some pretty crappy cuban cigars just as there are from any other country.

Like a boss
Davidoffs are good quality and fairly similar to cubans

smoke a blunt. Not a cigar. Makes car rides better. Get some good tunes. Good to go. [/quote]
True.
I really think the whole things about Cubans are over blown because you cannot get them. There’s plenty of nice cigars you can get. I have smoked a legit Cohiba in Spain. It was good, but I think I have had just as good non-Cuban cigars in my life…

Holy Crap dude! Well you know what they say, first step in the healing process is admitting you have a problem lol. Good problem to have imo. That cabinet is a thing of beauty.
Nice to see you’re still alive there Lanky. Never enough quality posters around here.

I chickened out lol. You ever come to my neck of the woods Push you can have your pick of what ever I have in stock. Hope your son is doing well btw.
I have a question about my humidor.
I looked a tons of them in Cuba and never saw one that had the same smooth finish like the one I have. Everyone one I looked at had the same rough finish like the wood inside of those tubes. Spanish cedar no doubt.
The one I have seems like good quality, it doesn’t seem like it’s made cheaply, the wood is heavy, dials and sponge/puck thingy on the inside. Looks legit.
I wanted to buy more cigars but I was worried they would go bad in this thing. It was painfull walking away from the duty free smoke shop at the airport knowing my wonderfull wife gave me the green light to “buy whatever you want for fucks sakes, you’re on vacation”.
Any of you guys see this type before?
Should I just get a new one?
I’ll literally lose sleep over this lol.
Also is it okay to leave the cigars inside the the tubes inside the humidor? I got a snooty cigar book awhile back but it doesn’t mention anything about it.

A few things:
The biggest thing with your humidor is the seal. A good seal will hold the relative humidity in your humidor and you can age the cigars as long as you like (Cubans are notorious for getting much better with age, they’re typically released before curing completely). I can’t tell how great the seal is just by looking at it, but there are a couple ways for YOU to figure it out.
1 - dollar bill test. Slightly crack the lid of the humidor, place a dollar bill in and close the lid. If the dollar bill slides easily along the “lip” of the humidor, the seal is not great. If the dollar bill holds still, the seal should be good. You should try this along several places on the lid to ensure the seal is good all around.
2 - Get a digital hygrometer. Typically run about $15-$20 USD and they let you know the temperature and relative humidity in your humidor. The analog hygrometer that came with your humidor sucks. They are notorious for being off by 10-20%. The ideal relative humidity for inside your humidor is 65-70%.
3 - Get a Boveda pack (google it) - these things typically cost $4 USD (available at any reputable cigar shop) and they regulate the humidity inside your humidor, maintenance free. Seriously, get ones of these things. They’ll typically last 4-6 months, depending on how good your humidor seal is and how much you’re opening/closing it. But it’s a small price to pay to ensure your cigars stay fresh.
Hope this helps.
Edit - and leaving a cigar inside the tube is not a problem. It slows down the aging process a bit, but I typically leave cigars in whatever packaging they come in.
Edit 2 - and if you get a Boveda pack and your humidor has a good seal, you don’t even really need the hygrometer, you can be that confident in the Boveda pack.
Also - has your humidor been seasoned? The reason spanish cedar is used in a humidor is that it holds moisture and helps regulate RH. If you put those cigars in a completely dried out humidor, the spanish cedar could be taking the moisture out of your cigars. If you already had it up and running for a while with the sponge/foam disc it comes with, you should probably be fine (assuming it works).
If I were you I’d get a Boveda yesterday and get a couple extras for when the first 1 dries up. Go with 69% (they have 4 different RH options).
And now you know entirely too much about storing cigars, lol.
Thanks for the info Lanky, appreciate it.
While I was doing the dollar bill trick I discovered why the finish inside is smooth. It’s cheap fucking plastic veneer! Jesus wept…
Off to the cigar shop tomorrow for a new humidor and those items you listed. They should be okay till then. Hopefully the ones they sell will be good to go and I don’t have to pre humidize(not sure what the term is) it which from what I’ve read typically takes three days. If that’s the case I can store them at my buddies till then. I’m worried about my babies, er… cigars.
What really sucks is they were cheap as hell in Cuba. I walked by hundreds of em for like forty bucks, really nice ones too. Oh well, it’ll be worth. The price you got to pay to be a refined gentlemen sniff ahem~ Sniff*.
Btw here’s how much I paid for the ceegars in my box:
Box of 5 Cohiba No.5’s = $90
Box of 5 R&J No.2’s = $26
Box of 20 Cohiba Clubs = $15
1 Partakas No.2 = $10
The Partakas had a funky little tapered tip that made me feel extra cool ![]()
