What do you guys think of Gray taubes’ research on cholesterol?
Not much.
I hadn’t heard of him, but yes, he’s basically correct. There is no valid logical or empirical reason to try to change your blood lipid profile with drugs, and triglycerides are the result of sugar, particularly fructose containing sugars. Anything else?
I think Taube´s statements need do be considered at a less than 100 to 150 g carbs daily intake.
He is absolutely right that sugar-as in fructose containing sugars have effects on metabolism and insulin resistance independent of caloric intake. Fructose can’t be processed in large amounts by the liver, and ends up being turned into liver and blood triglycerides which cause insulin resistance. Amount of carbs is much less important because when fat is replaced by glucose, the body just comes to need less insulin per gram of glucose, and when fat replaces glucose, the body needs more insulin to manage a given amount of carbs.
I don’t really want to buy his book to just read the same things over and over. Sounds similar to Efferding, to Jaminet, to @Nate_Miyaki.
