Cholesterol advice

Hey guys, looking for some advice please regarding a recent blood work results…

For context, I’m 34, been training for years, 5 days a week, 200 pounds, 5”9 and between 10% and 12% body fat. I exercise regularly too and play rugby. Diet is very centred around muscle gain too so high in protein (circa 220-250g’s daily), red and white meats, eggs, dairy etc. I also use Yuka app on everything I eat, so I like to think minimal bad additives / preservatives are finding ways into my food, always aim for whole foods, non processed foods etc. Also take 5-8mg of Creatine daily, 2 x milk thistle daily, 2 x BCAA daily and 1 x cod liver oil daily.

This is my first ever blood work too, so unsure if any levels have gotten worse or better but this would be my benchmark I guess. Also running 600mg Test E and 400mg Tren E stack, about 10 weeks in now (first cycle). I’m actually getting pretty much no sides from use either. Had a week or so of moderate night sweats, but really not that bad. No rage, irritability or anything. Bit of back acne and that’s about it. Would appreciate advice on that too, seems too good to be true :smiley:

For ref, bloods done via Thriva (UK), so comparing my results to others when reading up is tricky as I don’t have total counts e.g.total cholesterol of 400. So most results are all normal, but my lipid profile was as follows:

Triglycerides: 1.4mmol/L (normal).

Cholesterol: 5.8mmol/L (high).

LDL: 4.7mmol/L (high).

HDL: 0.5mmol?L (Low).

Non HDL: 5.3mmol/L (high).

Total Cholesterol: 11.9 ratio (highly abnormal).

Trig / HDL Ratio: 2.9 (abnormal).

For reference, hypercholesterolemia runs in family history too.

I’ve been reading this forum for ages, and took a lot of advice from it before running my first cycle (this one), and whilst some folks on here may as well be actual frigging doctors, I am not one so any advice in lemans terms is appreciated.

So key questions for me are: Is my PED cycle causing these levels? If so, what measures / supps / pharms could I take to settle my levels?

I am loving the results from running the gear, but also like being alive :smiley: So playing the long term, sustainable approach to PED use so any advice is welcomed and noted for future ref.

In your experience, are my levels seriously concerning? Any immediate action should be taken? I’m not experiencing any explicit symptoms of high Cholesterol, but recognise it’s often a silent abnormality.

I don’t have anything to add except it’s highly doubtful you used advice given from this site and are still using Tren.

Do you know the lifespan of your family members who have hypercholesterolemia and have died?

You could humor yourself and have a Coronary Artery Calcium Scan done. That might give you an idea where you’re heading.

You are two pounds away from being considered obese (29.7 BMI), 34 years old running a gram of AAS, have a “Suspicious” FFMI (if your BF% is accurate), have high cholesterol, but say you want to live.

If your BF% is accurate, you are carrying 180lbs of LBM on a 5’9” frame - you should cut for six weeks and compete.

Listen, how accurate are body comp scales are at a standard gym? Probably not very, so I always take with a pinch of salt so maybe you should too marra before replying? :man_shrugging:

As far as I know just my dad (still alive and well but he manages it) but I could / should probably dig a little deeper so that’s useful advice, thanks bud :+1:

So you’re full of shit, because no one here would recommend this. That’s an advanced cycle.

Yeah these drugs are going to make your cholesterol worse, but it’s for a short period of time. You have two choices really… finish it out and lengthen the risk period or stop. What do you want to know? After you decide, take blood work again about 6 weeks after finishing to see if cholesterol has improved.

I don’t put much stock in cholesterol numbers being out of range unless aggregiously so. Yours are, so good to keep an eye on them post cycle.

I have never seen a scale with a body fat measure at a gym. It’s pretty common knowledge that scales and other BF measuring devices are pretty inaccurate. It is just my personal opinion that when you list bf on a site such as this, you should indicate the method of determining body fat. An experienced forum reader would probably also recognize that 5’9”, 200 lbs at 10-12% represents an enormous amount of commitment in the gym and kitchen, and is not your average bear.

It is certainly possible that you have achieved those goals, but it is also highly probable that your bf is wrong. Since you take it with a grain of salt, it would probably be best to divulge the method of measuring in future posts.

Or you could post a pic and have us guess your percent body fat.

Honestly, I have found this to be more accurate than most methods. This hive mind has a good eye.

If I’m converting correctly to US values, your LDL and total aren’t that bad. HDL is really low though. Even with low triglycerides, your HDL/Trig ratio is bad and that’s more important than your LDL number. I don’t know much about steroids and if what you are taking is lowering your HDL, but that’s more important than your marginally high LDL. Your total is flagged as “high”, but optimal for life expectancy is higher than what you have.

None of that is really what you care about though and there are more direct measures. You can get a CAC (cheap) or a CIMT (more extensive) to actually check for build up. For blood work, if you really care, you should check your metabolic health (A1C, fasting insulin, etc) and look at inflammation (CRP, etc.). Those are all better predictors than cholesterol.

If high cholesterol runs in your family you could have Familial hypercholesterolemia. I was diagnosed with it was on rosuvastatin. Numbers went down a little. Repatha injections added twice a month. And my bad numbers plummeted.

I also have a bad heart family history. Both sides have a long history family heart history.
