Ugh this always turns into politics, and frankly it looks like kids saying their dads are better.
US citizens, enlighten me though, why would Trump assume the success (or failure) of dealing with the virus to his leadership? Isn’t it the governors that actually decide how things are handled in the states?
For the most part, yes. We do have national response from FEMA. But the governors are placing blame on the Feds, so Trump feels attacked and feels he must respond like he does to every slight.
Take failure out of your question. Trump doesn’t ever assume failure, errors or responsibility when things go wrong, he assigns them to others however.
I hear what you are saying, but even if more people died does that really make them look worse? The death rate is what it is, and the fact is that China got the situation under control. They could be lying, I just don’t think it would be worth the risk of it getting exposed and there isn’t a whole lot to gain either way.
To me, the one thing that gives China’s claims a lot of credibility is Bill Gates. It’s the US government that is accusing China of lying, and they don’t really have much credibility themselves and Trump was arguing with them over trade before all this happened, he lies all the time anyway and right now he could spin this to his advantage.
Are there no WHO or UN employees in China monitoring the situation? CNN had an article the other day by a US citizen who lives and works in China, if the death rate was way higher than claimed then people like that would notice. I think we need some evidence, because it’s all baseless allegations so far.
Interesting. At this point I really don’t think that there is enough evidence to determine whether or not China is lying, perhaps soon we will know. But if they are lying then the WHO is a bunch of crooked communists.
At first I thought the accusations of China lying were just the usual talk coming from from Trump and the US government, but after seeing that the WHO and Tedros are a biased towards China I’m really on the fence. And then what about Bill Gates: useful idiot or co-conspirator?
The CCP has been around for a long time, lying through their teeth from the minute they assumed power. I suppose I’d wonder why anyone would take them at their word on anything.
I’ve got nothing but love for the Chinese people but I’ve personally had enough of the CCP. No other great power today acts like they do, and there is no reason at this point to consider them a friend, ally or good faith trading partner.
Absolutely. They tried to outright shut down people even talking about the virus at first. If they didn’t take action fast enough, then a lot of people died, they look bad. If it looks like they locked it down, and not a lot of people died, they look good. Remember how that first doctor who blew the whistle got Coronavirus and then died despite being fairly young and healthy? The other whistleblower doctor who put out pictures of patients on social media during the initial outbreak and was reprimanded by the authorities for it is now missing.
Normally I wouldn’t believe any data coming from and communist country because they all routinely lie or simply refuse to share statistics. The thing here is that Gates and the WHO believed Chinese data, and Gates said they were being open, so I though that perhaps due to the unusual circumstances China could actually be cooperating for a change. But that article on the WHO really puts it all in a different perspective.
Well, that’s what you would expect from China.
Nobody is denying that their initial response was no good and that they took too long to take this seriously, but right now the WHO would have to be helping them cover up the rest. That’s not a good situation, considering that it’s the WHO telling countries all over the world how to handle this.
