As stupid as one part of this statement is, the premis is correct. Foriegn aid and overseas military expenditures should be cut. We simply can’t afford it and the American public isn’t going to give a shit. There is no way they can start taking away domestic entightlements. The only way we lose domestic programs is complete collapse.
Is complete collapse possible?

Only if they completely and utterly destroy the currency.
Why? Because a higher specialized economy such as ours requires a medium of exchange that is reliable for years to come or else investing becomes not exactly impossible but futile.
Than we barter or use cigarettes which means all economic activities requiring too much advanced planning or price comparisons cease.
And yes, they could indeed produce a climate that only requires a spark to induce runaway inflation.
But to my best knowledge that would probably only lead to a military coup, secessions or booted thugs roaming the streets.
I wonder what the shirts will look like this time?

Trends forecaster Gerald Celente echoes your predictions:

As we’ve seen a few times already.
One thing that i need to do a bit more reading on is the aftermatch of hyper inflation. What was life like in some of the more recent cases. How did they pull out of it. I am not sure what relevance this will have to our situation. I would imagine we would be the largest, most complex economy to experience this phenomonon. I would also doubt other countries will be in a possition to help us through it even if they wanted to.

Isn’t Somalia going through hyper inflation right now, or was it another African country?

Pay for everything in cash. Too much borrowing and spending of money which either won’t be made or paid back has been some of the problems. The borrower is a slave to the lender.

Well that is actually bad advice.
If there is an hyperinflation you do not want to own any cash and be as deep in debt as possible.

Maybe I’ll get a credit card and max it out by buying as much gold, silver, and platinum as I can. When the hyperinflation kicks in I’ll be set!

especially with the new regulation on increasing interest rates. I wonder if that is in anticiapation for what’s to come?

You need to be careful not to have an adjustable rate.
If you can get a fixed rate for 5-10 years that may be a good idea.
If they finally let real estate prices drop somewhere close to where you live, that might be a good idea too.

Short-sleeved, blue, and voluminous, so it would seem.

It’s time for people to stop borrowing. Cut up those credit cards and start paying for what you need and want. I have never had a credit card in my life. Now I don’t have all the toys and other shit others have.
The one thing I do have that others don’t is Zero Debt. I know me and what I would do if someone gave me $10,000.00 in credit, go into debt to the tune of $10,000.00. I’m not different than others, I just choose a different path.[/quote]
Credit cards are no problem if you use them responsibly and pay the full balance each month.

I totally agree, I have a couple friends that do just that. I, however don’t believe I’m one of them.
