Speaking as an Aussie, I will never forget that day and the feelings for my then unborn daughter as to the world I was about to bring her into.
Alberta Beef - you are a f@#$wit mate.
Seriously.
Although I don’t live anywhere near NYC, I’ll happily meet up with Fightin’ Irish and some of the other blokes here and happily readjust your programming.
I really can’t comprehend the lack of compassion and empathy. You might as well forget about ever posting here again. Ever. The smell will always linger.
I will never forget that day.
I am a Canadian who was living in Columbus, Ohio at the time of the attacks. Two years prior to that I took a weekend course in one of the towers. Some of the people I met there probably died on 9/11. New York being one of my favourite places, that tragedy hit me hard.
In case the post of AlbertaBeef should cast a shadow on Canadians in general, I’d like to remind everyone of a bit of touching history, that shows how different most Canadians actually feel about those events.
Once the attacks took place, US airspace was closed to all civilian flights for a couple of days. Tens of thousands of American passengers got stuck on trans-Atlantic flights mostly, and they were rerouted to Canada.
These people were treated very well. I don’t mean treated well at the airports. I mean thousands of Canadians, coast to coast, opened their doors and took their American cousins into their homes, for as long as it was necessary.
This is much more indicative of general reactions here than one inapropriate post.

No worries.
I’ll give Alberta the benefit of the doubt that maybe he hasn’t had much life experience to give him a better, rather than a know-it-all, perspective. Like the soldier here said, one great principle our country stands for is Freedom of Speech. I don’t agree with what you say, but I’ll defend your right to say it.
The only thing that I will say to Alberta is that, you may never understand why, or maybe you will after some life experience, but most Americans will never forget the events of September 11, which has EXPONENTIALLY breathed new life into our sense of National Pride, Strength as a Nation and Love of our Country. And each and every terrorist act or threat since then makes us even more Resolved, Unified, Strong.
As an Emergency Medical Services personnel, September 11 really hit home, as we had lost thousands of our EMS, Rescue, Fire and Police brothers and sisters- in addition to all of the innocent American people. Although September 11 was on a grander scale, the risks to rescue workers is a daily reality. Many of our brothers and sisters die in the line of duty every day. Personally, I have lost several friends who died in the line of duty. Sure, I grieved, but after the grieving process, it made me stronger and feel more pride and unity with my colleagues. Their sacrifice while helping others is a source of great INSPIRATION for me and for many others.
As well, the sacrifices made by our Military Personnel is a daily reminder of the great people whom are Americans who love our country so much that they are willing to fight for our freedoms and for our democracy. I started this thread out of a sense of immense gratitude for these people who continue to Inspire our National Pride. God Bless them and God Bless our great country.
September 11 is a significantly historical day for America and for this world. The largest impact it has had is that it has rejuvenated our sense of Nationalism and Unity. I believe since then, America is having a Renaissance of National Pride. No one can take that away. It has made the United States that much stronger and more resolved.
"The pictures of airplanes flying into buildings, fires burning, huge structures collapsing, have filled us with disbelief, terrible sadness, and a quiet, unyielding anger. These acts of mass murder were intended to frighten our nation into chaos and retreat. But they have failed; our country is strong.
A great people has been moved to defend a great nation. Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shattered steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.
America was targeted for attack because we’re the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining.
Today, our nation saw evil, the very worst of human nature. And we responded with the best of America – with the daring of our rescue workers, with the caring for strangers and neighbors who came to give blood and help in any way they could.
Immediately following the first attack, I implemented our government’s emergency response plans. Our military is powerful, and it’s prepared. Our emergency teams are working in New York City and Washington, D.C. to help with local rescue efforts.
Our first priority is to get help to those who have been injured, and to take every precaution to protect our citizens at home and around the world from further attacks…
This is a day when all Americans from every walk of life unite in our resolve for justice and peace. America has stood down enemies before, and we will do so this time. None of us will ever forget this day. Yet, we go forward to defend freedom and all that is good and just in our world…God bless America.

As both a Canadian and an Albertan, I have to apologize for what has been said. Who in the fuck can watch thousands of innocent people die and shrug it off like they just stepped on a spider. I am sure everyone thinks beef is really intelligent for pointing out that video and music can be used to manipulate emotions (no shit, like no one knew that).
Maybe beef should be embarassed for his lack of maturity and empathy as opposed to the American’s “self-pity”. How would you have felt if your mom was in the building beef?..would you have approached the situation with the same apathy?
From one Albertan to another, keep your redneck hillbilly thoughts to yourself they are an embarrasment to us all.

However, my position still stands. “Remembering” 9/11 helps nobody move on with their lives and only serves to perpetuate blind anger and rage against “them” in the middle east. The people that died are gone. You can’t bring them back. Life isn’t fair and people die. Their deaths are no different than anyone else in your life that have died.
So please. Just stop it already. Get through the grieving process and move on. You don’t see the Japanese making youtube movies telling them to “remember Nagasaki”. Likewise, there are no “remember the tsunami” videos and that happened just recently.
It reminds me of my extremely emotionally inept Aunt who lost her daughter to Crystal Meth. Every family get together it’s “Remember Lynn?” and “Oh, it’s so terrible about Lynn”…
Yeah, it was terrible she died at such a young age, but, uh, it happened three years ago and we’d kind of like to get on with our lives. So get some therapy already and move on.
[/quote]
Just because we are moving on does not mean we shouldn’t remember. Should your aunt take down every picture she has of the Lynn and every home video, try to forget her altogether and ignore anyone who brings her up??? Of course not.
Nobody seems to care about that line of your post becaus of the bullshit insensitive shit you posted after it. Had you just left it at that people may have agreed with you, but you chose to follow it up with your I don’t care about innocent people dying attitude.
Who is wallowing over and over? It’s one video. Get over your own self pity. Poor you, you are sick of hearing about 9/11, get over it.
You cannot completely take emotion out of reasoning. If someone is a serial killer is it better to judge him with emotion and realize what he commited was terrible or is it better to reason without any emotion or regard for human life and let him off the hook? Humans are emotional beings to hide emotion or always putting emotion aside is not a healthy way to live.
I remember as a kid I was attacked by a half wolf half husky, kinda traumatized me for a while. But I am now a dog lover and have almost no fear of dogs except for pitbulls. I just watched a video of a dog attacking a woman last weak, does that mean I have not gotten over my own attack?? No! Just because we watch videos that relate to what we went through does not mean we haven’t moved on, people are generally more interested in a topic they can personally relate to. Thats life get over it.
Your right America has no freedom of speech and people always get flamed for expressing their beliefs. Have you ever even been to america? That couldn’t be more far from the truth.
The first video doesn’t even have music, your point is irrelevant to the video at hand.
America liberated an entire country, women were being killed on a daily basis. Your figures are wrong, sorry. Even if America had killed more people then Saddam did with his practices, America did it in an attempt to free these people from opression, Saddam did it because he doesn’t care for human life. His ideals have killed more people then America ever has. ALlowing the brutal tactics by the Holy Police used to control people killed a countless number of civilians. Thank God the UN enforced such harsh tactics when dealing with Iraq. God only knows how many people would be killed if they had gotten their hands on wmd’s.
You did not attempt to answer the question at hand. When I referred to them as idiots I was not talking about their level of intelligence but rather the practices they inforce and their disregard for human life. You can be an Einstein and still be an idiot.
Actually when I deployed the Canadian military was there too. Sorry to burst your bubble. THey may not be supplying thousands of troops but they are still there. America has not received any oil from Iraq so to continue to say that we went for oil is well… stupid. You’d do your best to do the Christ like thing??? Christ sympathized for those that were in pain and suffering. I doubt your reaction to 9/11 is anymore christ like then what the hijackers did. Total disregard for human life.
If that was not your initial reaction then you shouldn’t have posted it as such, now we all know you are over exagurating your points and have no problem lying. Way to drive your point. Who says chinadoll brings up 9/11 all the time. SHe shows patriotism and support for our troops but i believe this is her first time posting a thread on 9/11. If your girlfriend mentioned 9/11 only once after it happened would you get all butt hurt and chew her out for picking at old wounds as you have done here???
Life does go on, NY has definitely moved on. People are building businesses getting married, shopping, our economy is recovering, what the hell else do you want besides for us to never mention it again??
It’s been what 5 years and you are comparing it to forever?? Another exaggeration on your part that just makes you look that much more unintelligent and immature.
We worship Ann do we?? Another exaggeration, how many has it been now, I’ve lost count. You are a very draumatic person, and should work on that before you judge people for over draumatizing events such as 9/11. Your T-Nation does have a suck it up kind of attitude, but can you show me one post that shows that attitude toward someone who has died? Didn’t think so. You act like we all suddenly changed because of 9/11, in reality when it comes to death very few people are stupid enough to tell someone who is mourning to suck it up.
So because we are watching one video and sympathize for the family of a man that lost his life and was begging to be saved before he died because he is a father, that means we haven’t moved on? Damn I thought I had moved on with my life but apparently watching this video has reversed any and all progress I’ve made, right? Stop relating this video to the fact that we haven’t moved on.
You can’t even get over your own self pity, and you expect a whole nation to get over it? I’ll tell you what when the rest of the world stops hating and fighting due to their self pity of things that happened 100 years ago thats when America will get over their self pity.
You say Ann makes you sick because she criticizes wives who hyperpolarize their situation to stir up emotion and use it as their shield and yet you are doing the same thing that Ann did, except instead of targetting a small group like the wives of the victims of 9/11 you have a much broader target, America as a whole. Now maybe people see you as being sick.
Everyone agrees that we should move on, the point people are making is that we should move on but not forget. If you don’t remember your past you have no future.
We were dragged into a war that kills innocent people? You make it sound like people weren’t expecting innocent people to die. Name me one war that doesn’t kill innocent people. War causes destruction and devestation but is used as a tool. A harsh but necessary tool. I find it odd that you had almost no sympathy for the innocent people that died in the twin towers but feel sorry for the people that die in war. By your same prinicples shouldn’t we move on and stop bringing up the fact that innocent people are dying in Iraq. I mean we shouldn’t pick at our wound, we need to move on and stop obsessing about all the innocent people dying in Iraq. I sound like an idiot when I say that don’t I?? Yeah well so did you.

IMO I think other countries dislike us because they hold us to higher standards and when we slip up they get pissed because they figure America is such a powerful country we should have more control over our actions. Which is true, but at the same time I think sometimes the world expects too much from America. I have been to different parts of the world and heard how people feel about America from their own mouth. Some hate us because we fail to help people in starving third would countries, some hate us because we get involved in almost every major conflict, some hate us because we know we’re the best, some because we are ignorant to other cultures. Different people hate us for different reasons. Being such a powerful nation we can never make everyone happy, all we can do is fight the good fight and do our best to keep this world from tearing itself apart.
Thats why I do everything I can to support this country and say to hell with anyone trying to bring this nation to it’s knees. It wont happen!!!
Eureka! If only we “made people happy” we wouldn’t be facing Islamic fundamentalist fanatics. I mean, it’s so clear-he’s right. THAT’S why we were attacked. We MADE them do it. It’s not because they are fucked up dirt floor living, women hating, goat fucking, sister marrying, backwards retards at all. Its because we failed to make them happy! hahahaLOL.
I think I am finished with this thread. The Japanese people collectively considered themselves soldiers of the Japanese Empire. If you do a little research, you’ll see a lot of rhetoric from Japan about women and children willing to take their own lives to harm the Allies. They brought the Atom Bomb on themselves. The use of those two bombs likely prevented the deaths of many more innocent people by effectively ending the War.
