Alright, who here gives their children food supplements? Specifically, I’m interested in how many folks give their kids protein shakes (Metabolic Drive, whey isolate, etc), fish oil concentrates (not Flameout but something for kids with alot of Omega 3, DHA, and EPA), and last but not least, something like Biotest’s Superfood?
I personally think supplementing a child’s diet with a little of the above is a very good idea. This is especially so in the case where the child just cannot stand the standard sources of protein like meat, fish, chicken, eggs, etc.
I started eating protein shakes around 15, just cuz I figured out hey were good for me since I was working out and all.
I think…(and I plan to do this with my kids)…the best idea is to help inforce good eating habits in the household and take a healthy eating approach to life. That doesn’t mean deprive them of goodies…I just means makes sure they understand the importance of a good balanced diet and grocery shop/and cook accordingly for your children.
Absolutely, if there is ever a point where deficiencies could jack someone up, it would be during rapid development. Being smaller people though, you’ have to scale portions back appropriately. You don’t want one of your kids turning orange from too much beta carotene, or something similar.
