So are the rushing through a law to force registration of “free speakers” and making them pay fees and put themselves on a list? I’m assuming that’s next.

Some of what I have gathered…
Guns will be allowed only within a person’s home, not anywhere outside the home, and that includes yards and garages… (so don’t meet a would be robber in your garage, wait til he acutally gets inside, how fucking stupid is that?)
A firearm permit will cost $100 and a city registration fee will cost $15. Both the permit and registration will have to be renewed every three years and the fees paid again, according to a press release from the Mayor’s Office.
Gun owners will also have to undergo four hours of classroom training and one hour of firing range training. The hitch here is that firing ranges, with the exception of law enforcement ranges, are banned in Chicago. So people will have to go outside the city for target training.
In line with the ban on target ranges are the ban of gun sales in Chicago. People wanting to purchase guns, legally will have to go to the suburbs.
It prohibits gun shops within city limits and requires potential handgun owners to register their guns with the Chicago Police Department.
The new ordinance also addresses where handguns can be stored, saying that home storage does not include a garage, front porch, or yard. Other excluded sites for storage are hotels, dorms, and group living facilities. For transport outside the home, guns would need to be broken down and not trigger ready.
The ordinance would prohibit gun owners from stepping outside their homes, even to their porch or garage, with a handgun. It also prohibits gun shops in Chicago; limits the number of handguns residents can register to one per month; requires residents in homes with children to keep their handguns in lock boxes or equipped with trigger locks; requires prospective gun owners to take a four-hour class and one-hour training at a gun range, for which they would have to leave the city because Chicago prohibits new gun ranges and limits the use of existing ranges to police officers; prohibits people from owning a gun if they were convicted of a violent crime, domestic violence or two or more convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs; and calls for the police department to maintain a registry of every handgun owner in the city.
so . . . they had the strictest gun laws in the country and still had horrible crime rates . . . what part of “it ain’t working like you think it’s working” don’t they get? And so, allowing people to defend themselves (since the city obviously can’t/won’t) is going to worsen the crime rate how exactly?

This is just so absurd. You really have to wonder what these idiots are thinking and who keeps voting them into office.

golly youre such a numwit. dont you know if you pick up a firearm there is a 1 in 1 chance of you becoming possessed by evil spirits and going on a killing spree. Youre “statistics”, what does that word even mean really, arent even relavent to the discussion. Come on, statistics? Kinda hitting below the belt there huh.
“guns don’t kill people, chickens fired from cannons kill people”
There are 400,000 people in the State of Texas with Concelled Hand Gun License. All of them went through a complete back ground check before they were allowed to carry. Criminals will carry whether it is legal or not.
I would prefer my gun next to my bed, then allow the government to control my ability to defend my home. I dont fear the government laws, I fear the criminals that do not follow the laws.
You come into my house, I will shoot you. HOW 'BOUT THEM APPLES!!! I think the criminals will be leaving Texas and going to Chicago very soon.

I love how in Texas a guy can carry around a rifle and no one gives a damn.
