Hi guys, I’ve started t replacement about a week ago and I’ve started getting chest pains. I’m on 50mg of testogel a day and was just wondering if this will pass or I should adjust my dose? Any advice will be greatly appreciated👍
Please describe chest pains, what does it feel like? When my dosage was too high I got chest sensations that felt uncomfortable, feeling chest tightness was elevated estrogen for me.
Your dosage is probably too high, what is your body fat percentage?
How old are you? Any familial history or history within yourself regarding cardiovascular disease (any pinpoints, dyslipidemia, heart condition, pre existing atherosclerosis etc)
Does it feel like a crushing, squeezing sensation, perhaps like someone is sitting on you’re chest?
Sorry I should say that my father had angina and had a triple heart bypass. I was a smoker but quit about 3 years ago
Thanks for your reply’s. I’m 38 and I’ve never had any heart problems before. I’m not to sure what my body fat percentage is but I am overweight. I was on antipsychotics for untreatable depression which made me put on a lot of weight even though I was only eating 1000 cals a day.its a stabbing pain that comes and goes every 15 mins or so. I did get shortness of breath and a tight sensation across the top of my chest and shoulders when I was in bed but it only lasted about 20 mins. My blood pressure is slightly raised for me (139-85) but it’s still in a normal range.
Thanks again for your help!
The extra body fat means you might be aromatising a lot, it would help if you posted other biomarkers you had tested pre-TRT. It sure sounds like high estrogen.
Mmmmm 139-85 isn’t healthy
How long did you smoke tobacco for, after 2-3 years the risk of a cardiovascular event compared to a non smoker is still marginally elevated.
If you have a familial history of coronary artery disease. Smoking alone (WHILE smoking that is, over time, prolonged ceceasion will lower risk gradually til back to at or near baseline), but smoking alone increases CAD risk 2-4x baseline, compare that with unfavourable genetics and it isn’t great.
Cardiac toxicity induced by antipsychotics would generally be acute (QT interval prolongation, so theoretically torsades de pointes could develop whilst in, very rare and probably didn’t happen to you as you’d be… almost certainly dead if that type of arrhythmia occurred and was sustained for more than say a few seconds). Cardiomyopathy (typically stemming from myocarditis) and CHF are very rare complications from use of certain antipsychotic meds, however you aren’t using them anymore, thus providing no significant damage occurred chances are this isn’t the issue
Depending on what age you’re father had significant CAD I’d suggest seeing a doc, get an EKG/precordial examination, also it’s not hard to get a plaque score if you’re in you’re 30s with a familial history
