Greetings!!!

Lothario, thanks for starting this thread. Let’s keep a Good News for the Good Guys thread going at all times.

Here’s my offering for today: Iraq Operation Lightning

"WASHINGTON (AP) _ As the Iraqi-led anti-insurgent Operation Lightning enters its fourth day in and around Baghdad, a partial picture of the results is starting to emerge.

The Associated Press has obtained Iraqi summaries of the operation from a U-S military source. The documents say more than 700 hundred arrests have been made, most of them last week before the operation was officially announced.

Iraqi Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Interior numbers break the arrests down this way: 627 “suspected terrorists,” eleven “suspected foreign fighters,” and 82 others who are classified as “wanted by judicial authorities.”

The documents also report the seizure of scores of explosives.

The summaries say at least two car bomb attacks have been foiled and more than more 860 false documents have been confiscated along with Syrian currency and fake military uniforms.

Highlights: 800 terrorists captured, explosives seized, two car bombs foiled, Syrian currency found, Iraqi/U.S. joint op.

Screw “cheestatics.”

We are the Good Guys!!!

On this thread, let’s ignore the malconents/foiled john “pay my parking tickets, bitch” kerry voters!!!

I get fresh reports of good things happening over there on a daily basis, but some of the people on here will dismiss it as truth because they didn’t see it on CNN. RLTW

Good thread lothario!

It’s nice to read about all of the good things that are going on over there. And we know that the liberal media won’t give us the entire truth, especially when it’s positive news about Iraq.

Wow. That’s all I can say, wow. I thought I knew what cheestastic meant, but I had no idea. Yes, life is peachy in Iraq.

What is bullshit Professor? Presenting another side of an argument? Something that you don’t agree with.

How sad for you.

You’ll never understand the equation that leaders have to balance.

Perhaps one day you will. Today’s not that day.

shhhh…ZEB, don’t be mean to the Golden Boy.
He alone is allowed.

I’m afraid I have a weakness Zeb, I sink to the level of those I converse with at times…

Forgive me brother.

Posting from the WSJ regarding good news in Iraq.

Give yourself about 30 mins. to read it.

That’s the point of this post…right.

Don’t look now Joey, you just did the same thing you are criticizing me for… how ironic.

loth, you rock!

You aren’t doing anything but perpetuating the same action that you claim to hate from “the liberal media”. How you can’t see the hypocrisy in that is beyond me. Your goal isn’t truth…it is spin. I have no doubt that you would be ultimately happy if all media was controlled to edit out every death or explosion and ONLY focus in on candle lightings and smiling children…even if a dead soldier is 3 feet away.

To have any base in morality, your goal should simply be truth, not spin and hype. Again, this was quite CHEESETASTIC. Hell, I think someone needs to add that to an urban dictionary.

Hey all right!!! I’m glad I’m not the only cheesetastic wonder boy around here!!!

This is from two years ago, and things haven’t changed much, media-wise. It is a report from none other than US News and World Report which chastises the American Media for their “one-sidedness”. I think it’s a shame that our media can’t do a better job.

Zap Branigan mentioned that the good stuff doesn’t make spectacular news in the way that bad stuff does, and he has a point. But then I think about it this way: if we are inundated with reports of car-bombs (which we are), and give headlines to suicide bombers (which we do), then anything that differs from the miasma of tragedy and human destruction would stick out and attract a reader. I just have to come to the conclusion that the media simply chooses to not give space for any good stuff. And that’s their right, it’s their company and we shouldn’t try to force our will on a private entity.

But I can damn sure complain about their slanted and biased take on things, can’t I?

As for you nay-sayers like vroom and ProX, like I said before, you are more than welcome to roll your eyes at me (should I say “us”?), and call me names and ridicule me. You cannot change the way I feel about this. You cannot change the truth… the fact that we are helping so many people over there. My advice to y’all: Close your eyes, shut your ears, and for heaven’s sake, don’t read this thread… because you just might open your minds to the possibility that you are wrong.

don’t look now vroomie, but you’re being a bigger dick than usual…it’s not very ironic, but it is sad.

Loth, I think you gave the thread it’s title…

Y’know, as per Vag’s little estro outburst, I probably wouldn’t have replied at all if you simply started pointing to good news, instead of outlining a massive world conspiracy to hide it.

Point it out! Bring it on! It’s out there… no doubt about it. If you think I’m against the good news, or that I don’t think good things are happening, you simply haven’t been paying attention.

Hmm, in that case, I think “blow me” would be the proper response.

Don’t get your panties in a wad Joey, the world will still be spinning tomorrow.

This was idiotic. I may be called to go over there fairly soon. I think I understand more than you what we are doing over there because we get briefings on it directly from those in charge of operations. Unless the same is happening with you, your accusation is ridiculous. As if you can’t understand what was written before, this has nothing to do with not ackowledging the good things we are trying to do over there.

The doc who shares an office with me has spent more time over there than you ever will so if I want info straight from the horse’s mouth (not that he resmebles a horse in any way), all I have to do is turn my chair around. I will also not ignore the fact that he stated he got little sleep during most of the time there due to mortar rounds going off and constant drills for bombing. If you want to ONLY focus on the good while turning your back on the entire picture, that makes you the one with the problem.

America’s military is trying very hard to re-establish some form of integrity as far as the social infrastructure over there…however, to ignore the risks, the hardships and the hatred for that same action is foolish to say the least.

The goal should be truth and an attempt to look at all sides, not this waste of space so you all can pat yourselves on the back for work that is not only in jeopardy, but is also nowhere near finished.

lothario, I’m not sure they’re smart enough, and I’m pretty sure they’re each too stubborn.

Good try though. A for Effort at trying to get somewhere!
