I don’t think he’s very much concerned about how he looks. He says his piece, and tells those who don’t like it to get bent.

Actually, it is because of those threats that he enjoyed overwhelming support. He managed to nationalize his country’s natural resources, and that achievement is far from an empty threat. But yes, we all know that the “cutting off oil” is just rhetoric.
